Bowler contract

Where have you heard that?

He’s certainly not looked like he wants to stay here on the two pre-season games he’s played so far.

Excellent news if true. If we were indeed waiting for his sale to release funds, it was getting a bit too late. Good for future revenue as well, and he'll have to play like he did last season to get offers around the release clause, whatever value that is?

Still need an ACM and RB cover though, but brilliant news if it happens.

We all know the way the club operates now and that means no leaks. Nobody is going to know who is doing what until we’re told be the club.

To be fair, someone on here knew about the Grimshaw contract extension before anyone else did so it's not entirely out of the realm of possibilities, but I think it's highly unlikely especially given Josh's circumstances.

If he was set on leaving why would he sign a new contract? He has all the power in this situation so why would he sign on to give that power back to the club?

In his current situation all he has to do is play out of his skin this season and then he'll have his pick of clubs going into next Summer for free.

Maybe we offer him higher wages and he accepts because interest has dried up, but I just can't see it.

If you’re going to start a rumour at least give us some explanation as to who told you and why it’s reliable information

Maybe - just my wishful thinking:
Josh's agent isn't impressed with any current offers, so he negotiates a higher salary on a 2+1 deal, just in case Josh sustains a serious injury or has a stinker of a season. This gives Josh some mid term security.
The new contract includes a release clause at a set value, and barring injury, if Josh has a blinder of a season and one of the clubs in the auto promotion place (if it's not us 🤪) buys him at the release price to get them over the line.
This motivates Josh to do what he does best, especially under MA's coaching. Win win all round 🧡

I really hope Verdad is right here and he has actually heard a rumour that turns out to be true.

Not because we’ll have kept Bowler.. Because it’s class reading the jealousy of other fans on here when they see other supporters might have found something out before them.

😂😂😂😂

Maybe he saw it written on a whiteboard somewhere?

You have strange motivations as a Blackpool fan - to rate the apparent discomfort of other fans more highly than retaining a strong player for our team 🤔

Delighted if this is true. A quality player who makes things happen , gets fans of their seats and is only going to get better. Then if an offer comes in that will enhance the squad then what is not to like. Thoroughly enjoy Josh running at defences. If true then well pleased.

I never understood why footballers don't sign improved contracts. They receive better renumeration, stability, protection from long-term injury etc.. If a better deal comes, the club will sell, or they will engineer a move themselves. Running your contract down is risky, loss of form or injury puts and future contract in jeopardy.

Would having him sign a longer contract with higher wages match a good new signing ?

Personally I think so.

If a million like the rumours are is true, then extend the contract, at the same time increasing his value / buyout clause

Personally I do t see Bowler as a premier player, so why not earn good money here

No - I just don’t like the fact on here people get shut down and claimed as liars over something that very may well be true.

You have a strange motivation as a human being if that’s how you get your kicks.

Ultimately, the transfer fee affects the wages they can expect from the next club and can sometimes cause the move to collapse altogether.

Ask Mr Brannagan how he feels about his new contract.

No, I don't get my kicks in that way at all. I get my kicks by supporting the team and my fellow fans. 🍊 I hope you feel the same.

Would like to think that, which will mean we aren’t showing our cards in public which is win/win.
That being said, I’d be happy for their to be spilt beans here - just coz it’s bowler hehe

He would sign to command a bigger fee when on a longer contract. Vi-sa-vi to get a bigger signing on fee, also it allows other clubs time to scout him so the club he goes to will probably be of higher calibre.

I don’t get why some can’t see this. The offset of a longer and better contract for us, will mean that we can afford to give him better wages and we will have a much more concrete offer put in for him when the time comes that will reflect upon his ability, instead of about 4-5 months we had last season of great play.

Instead of maybe 2 mill as contract runs down, we might get 4 mill for him with a 2+1 contract. That 2 mill equates to £19.500 per week of wages. And we are talking about potential 10k per week (minus his current salary).
It’s a no brainer.
In my humble opinion 😁🍊

Couldn’t have put it better myself.

Probably a made up rumour - however, from all the videos etc he seems happy to be a part of the set up.
I still don't believe that Bowler is the finished article and would like to think he'd be happy to ply his trade with us for at least another 6 months.

I’d love him to re-sign. Mainly because I don’t want to explain to the wife that’s he’s doing a left and a right step over for someone else 👍
