Bowler

Have to admit - I need to apologise to this lad.

Moaned abit when he signed thinking he won’t be good enough from what I’d read on Hull forum & double that with his lack of professional game time… but already feel like he’s proved me wrong. Horses for courses!

We’ve only seen snippets of him at the moment and there will be better and worse performances over the season but he looks a real handful, confident, smart, direct and with an end product.

Better yet having watched his interview when he first joined and now his interview on tonight’s preview show he seems a real down to earth top lad. Speaks really well - seems the type you want in and around the dressing room.

I reckon Bowler will start tomorrow. And Lavery too probably. TJJ and CJ on the bench.
mmmm... not sure, Knowing how many options we have and the fact they both started on wednesday, he may bench them both again with a view to playing them both on tuesday. Not saying it's what I'd do, just trying to second guess what Critchley might do/think.

Maybe. The Saturday Tuesday consideration may well influence his thinking for tomorrow. Pick horses for courses. I'll be surprised if Hamilton and Jules start though. And he'll likely 3ant to keep the momentum from Wednesday that came from Bowler and Lavery to a large extent.

He was a threat on Wednesday, created some great chances for himself, however he had 3/4 decent chances to test the keeper and all were hit wide/over or at the keeper

True but he was beating players at will. Caused panic at the back for Boro all night. Which other wide players are fit and in the form he's in?

Impressive and encouraging start, also taught me an important lesson - I thought haircuts like that were made illegal around 1998 but it turns out we're still allowed them

I'm a bit surprised that the likes of McCarthy and Warnock are still strutting their stuff at this level, albeit in a wrinkly Zimmer frame stylee. (I guess that's ageist, though MMcC isn't much older than me).

I just think their time has gone, why do football clubs still want that, when the game has moved on? Other clubs have brought in new wave bosses. Norwich, Watford and Brentford didn't go up thanks to the efforts of doddery old long ball merchants.

We can work our our way above the likes of these. Maybe not immediately, but as this season develops I think we'll be better equipped than some. Better tactics, better player rotation etc. Good management and coaching are crucial, and they are evolving, and some clubs are stuck in previous decades, it seems.

Weird take considering Colin took Cardiff from 18th-19th to the Premiership in 18 months about 3 years ago.

Or doesn’t that count as it wasn’t the “right way”?

Likewise, McCarthy’s record, generally, is very good. Especially at this level.

Would rather winning football over good; if you get both it’s a winner.

Fair comment. Obviously counts. I don't like watching that football at all though to be honest. I'm not a fan of shit football even if it wins. That's how I am. And I think football is moving on from that and the successful clubs are nearly all much more progressive.

yep, called it right. Critchley has a lot of thinking to do between now and tuesday.

Probably our most exciting signing, looks a proper player and it should be great watching him over the course of the season. I think he's more than earned his place as a starter after the last two games

Needs to start every game alongside Lavery.

We're far less mobile and creative without them.

Although I've called for them we mustn't heap too much on them alone, Lavery is young and Bowler whilst looking good hasn't show too much end product yet.

Fast starts for them but others must bring more to the attacking game. Yates need to get going, Mitchell to come back, CJ to get running at defenders.
