Brentford f c

It was a direct import from the USA and in the context of the UK it doesn't make complete sense.
We do not play the national anthem before the start of everything like they do in the USA. Kaepernick making a point about not respecting a national anthem of a country where in many ways black people are third class citizens does not completely translate over here.
Being anti racist is totally the way to go but maybe the ethnic communities of the UK should think of something more appropriate to our country.

I'm now wondering if other clubs will follow Brentford as in my opinion it didn't achieve very much at all.

I think tbf it’s served it’s purpose and now become pretty pointless...
I think last weekend I watched a game , first they did a minutes silence/applause for capt Tom then the take the knee thing...🤣

Fair enough, if Brentford's black player's agree, but could there be an adverse reaction from opposing players?

Got to stop sometime, why not now?
We all know what it's about, has it actually changed any ones perspective?

If players want to do it, then they should, but it bothers me that kneeling is a symbol of submission. Shouldn't it be a gesture of defiance like raising a clenched fist?

This decision has come after lengthy discussions as a group. We have been taking a knee before games since June but, like many of our fellow players at other clubs, no longer believe that this is having an impact. We believe we can use our time and energies to promote racial equality in other ways.

l thought that ALL the professionals were in agreement to take the knee.
Well, some on here said they were anyway!!

Most football players are too thick to know why they are doing it.

I don't know about most but I'm sure there will be some.

Some will know that failing to continue to go along with this charade could have a negative impact on their career and they will have to keep it up until there are given permission to stop.

Wow, talk about lacking respect about a group of people.

On the subject of taking the knee, I think football was weak and was swept along with the movement but should have followed it own policies and not allowed political statements

Whilst I disagreed with taking the knee, there is no place for any discrimination in society and I believe perpetrators should suffer severe consequences.
That includes positive discriminations as well

Its a bit like clapping the health workers who have done a great job and should be recognised. The Thursday clapping however became a chore. It was overdone and therefore lost its impact. People have to be creative and think of different and new ways to support a cause to keep the message fresh and in the public eye.
