Bristol City v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 07.08.21

Probably been posted already but Reece James is likely to be playing against his brother Matty James for the first time.

I have Bristol city as dark horses for this season, think they could sneak a play off spot so it’s going to be a tough game for sure.

I had a read of a thread about season expectations on the Bristol forum and the general feeling is that they will struggle. Common question is "where will the goals come from?" They were struggling at the end of last season.

There’s mixed views about the strength of Bristol City down here in the West Country. It’ll be interesting to see how the match plays out, particularly given our injury/pre season issues.

Matt Scrafton this morning says:

Daniel Gretarsson and Kenny Dougall could play some part at Ashton Gate tomorrow afternoon having returned to training this week.

Predicted starting XI: Maxwell, Connolly, Keogh, Husband, Garbutt, James, Ward, Bowler, Anderson, Hamilton, Yates
That defence looks weak to me

BC mid table for me.

No clue what the team will be, but neither do the opposition, we do well at keeping injuries and who is recovered out of the media, nothing leaks really! Could be Morty and Mathews up front!

2-1 Pool. Hamilton/Yates.

One all would be a decent start. We will build momentum this season as per last time round 🧡👍

I hope all those travelling to Bristol have a safe journey there and back. The trains and the roads both sound as though they will be a nightmare.

UTMP 2-1 to Blackpool! Yates and Lavery. Give them all a cheer for me, please.

Safe trip to everyone heading down. Let's have 3 points on the board come 5pm.

COME ON YOU MIGHTY TANGERINE WIZARDS!

Kudos to everyone travelling down, show them what 1000 seasiders sound like, make those cider drinking, carrot-munching? (my list of Bristol stereotypes ends at one) shake in their moccasins, roar us on to three-points. The pool are back where they belong!!!1.

In a lot of early fixtures last year we were slow out of the blocks..and prone to conceding early..then chasing the game. Need a good positive start..maybe get an early goal ourselves and let them worry about us. I'd be happy with a draw today.

We've not had a great pre season in my opinion, not played a settled team, it's all seemed a bit disjointed to me. I'm assuming there'll be no Stewart, Dougall, Gretarsson etc. For those reasons I'm going to be much more conservative than normal in my prediction for today. I'm going 5:0 to Blackpool, Yates hat-trick, CJ and Garbutt with the goals 🧡

I’ve gone through a few hard times in the past few months and thought I had gained some perspective in life. Clearly not. All I have really thought about since yesterday is 3:00pm today, I spent a couple of hours yesterday on youtube looking at the championship prediction channels. Charlie Adam wishes us well and Holloway says the Championship is the lowest level we should be at with our fanbase.

Most predictions have us going back down, of the others 5th from bottom is a theme. I think we will surprise a lot of people.

UTMP

1:2 win after overcoming am early shock.

Looks like we're not planning on taking a backward step, or needing our defence!!! I'm even more confident now of a 5:0 win !!! 🧡 UTMP
