Bristol City v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 07.08.21

Very much 2nd best for 75 minutes, maybe to be expected with the players we have missing and a disjointed pre-season. That said Maxwell didn’t have a shot on target to save in the second half

Delighted with that last 15 though, never gave up and created some good chances.

Now we have a week to get some bodies fit before 2 homes games. All good.

Turn up for 10 minutes and get a point.

The good news is the subs made a difference.

We will get stronger and it's a great way to finish.

We were the better side for the first 20 minutes and the last 25 minutes, I would say a draw was the right result.

I thought JJ had a good debut, wanted the ball, clever and pacy, I think he will play well with Yates & Lavery, and that's with CJ, Demi & Bowler thereabouts too. Connolly looked better when he was more attacking too.

Just got in and managed to watch equaliser oh happy days.
What made it funnier it was Bristol commentary. 😁
Yeah he couldn’t be anymore gutted could he!!

Funny that the goal came in the seconds added on after the young sub, who they were basically saying is better than Messi, kicked the ball away by the corner.

What a finish, said Lavery had to play in pre season with Yates.

He looks class.

Let's face it thats not our best back 4, and midfield was weak understandably.

We need to improve in turning defence into midfield into attack but that will come with our best midfielders back.

If we can we have a real tricky strikeforce, we just need to give them the service.

Laverly, CJ and Yates etc will cause all sorts of issues for defences.

I didn't see Bristol create much although showed a lot more nous in midfield etc.

If we can just get more control we can get our attackers in far more.

Was having streaming issues for the first 15 minutes so only really saw Bristol in possession really.

Great start to get a point away from home in a higher division. Off licence for beer now!!

Agree with all of that and psychologically an important point.
Am sure it leaves Critch (and the physio) with plenty of work to do this week though.

Still got Kenny to come back in and he will be more than comfortable putting those balls over the top and getting Lavery away in behind. Bowler got him away a few times today but I think Kenny in particular has a decent eye for that pass.

Lavery and Yates (maybe just Lavery) is the way forward 110%

Thought CJ was miles off the pace today but Bowler looked very good imo

Ward with James are definitely second or third choice midfield options. Hopefully Ken and Kev as options will be back soon

Overall very happy with a point considering we turned up for about 20 mins
