Budapest

Great city to visit lots to do and see, suggest just have a good mooch around on both sides of the river and there are some great bars and restaurants all very reasonably priced

The museum of torture is fascinating, What the fascist did to people was a true eye opener. Well worth a look if you have a spare couple of hours.

Missus went for a girlie few nights this time of year a few years back. She loved the Szechenyi open air thermal baths.

Cracking city. Use the hop-on/hop-off bus on day 1. Gives you a proper look at everything and then you can focus on stuff in detail on day 2. As others say, lots of really good food and drink options and the baths are great.

You'll be there for the Christmas markets, where you can get really good food, much better than the ones we have over here.
St Stephens basilica is worth a visit

Parliament building worth a look as well - that's the domed building you see on pics

Trams are a great way to get about and save tired legs

Much preferred Pest to Buda however we were then in the summer and during the Euros

We tried to find the Nep stadium on our last day - not realising in was in the process of being demolished at the time 🤣

Went to see Ferencvaros play at the Nep in 1993 and the ball was still stuck in the goal stanchion from Trevor Brookings worldly goal in a 1982 WC qualifier!🤣🤣🤣

Do one of the Jewish History walking tours. Last around 2 1/2 hours. Check online. Many to choose from. Recommended.

Thermal baths are superb and an surreal experience.
Christmas markets are amazing so different from here
We go to Bratislava often at this time of the year and catch a train down to Budapest we are off on the 12th
