Looks like someones wand caught fire in the swingers club.
Yeah the new Galleon is decentNow come on.. how could they demolish this.... it was special...hmmm OK maybe the right choice and tbf the new galleon
New office block to go there, starts soon. AnnouncEd today MOD staff moving in there. Which will benefit the town centre with extra footfall all year round. Which in turn should attract more shops. They shouldn't have got rid of the original.
Things like the syndicate, which was much more relevant to my youth, could have gone anywhere.
However once they built the syndicate, to tear that down for a carpark.....
Crazy. Just an example to me of a bad call.
Loved that placeNow come on.. how could they demolish this.... it was special...hmmm OK maybe the right choice and tbf the new galleon
Where was this building and what was it? It’s lovely.THE LITTLE VIC
The Little Vic’s facade was a blend of Spanish Colonial and Art Deco styles. It was designed by the architect J. C. Derham, who, 3 years earlier had created the Winter Gardens’ Olympia building, followed by the Spanish Hall suite of rooms.

It was a pub on Victoria street on the other side to Boots, lovely little place, one of our locals when we went up town in the 70’s. Destroyed in the late 80’s sadly!Where was this building and what was it? It’s lovely.
I was the Opera House a couple of weeks ago, that and the Winter Gardens in general are glorious.
Currently transforming into a car parkThe Grand pub and Tiberius Casino went up in smoke, not the best looking of building but better than modern stuff. Not been down that way for a while is it still ovdrgrown with trees.
Yeah and last sat full to bustingCurrently transforming into a car park
Not sure parking is ideal though. The new building is about 7 floors and will accommodate a lot of staffNew office block to go there, starts soon. AnnouncEd today MOD staff moving in there. Thanks. It really is a lovely looking building that I’m old enough to remember going on the year you mention they were replaced but have recollection of. Assume the building that replaced these are the red brick ones opposite Hounds Hill and Boots and that? The Little Vic was on Victoria street I think as some one has mentioned, it actually had a tree inside as I remember. The bell tower was removed in the 1970s, An application to have the building listed failed shortly before it was demolished for bland shop premises in 1989. The majority of nice buildings in the town have gone to make way for "modernisation" Have they improved the Town Centre? probably not.
Did they hire boxes to stand on so you could see over the table?Wow that brings back happy memories Sooty, the old Mecca building. Amazing how quickly you forget these places once they’re gone. Used to go there in the 70’s as a young child when the Police used it for Christmas parties for all the children of Police officers and then later spent many a night in the Commonwealth playing Snooker. Wish there was a snooker hall like that in town now.
Yes those bland looking things are what replaced itThanks. Victoria St opposite the Hounds Hill entrance.Where was this building and what was it? It’s lovely.

The 'windmill' was a facade for the sewage pipe anyway.Knocking the windmill down on Central Prom and replacing it with a sewage works was a shìte idea.
Is that Crossley's bridge in Layton?
no but I was the only bloke there who used the rest to break offDid they hire boxes to stand on so you could see over the table?
They had to shut Noah’s ark for insurance reasons, so the fun house of the seventies wouldn’t have stood any chance in the modern era. Thing is kids would love it just as much now as they did then.Got a burn on my arm from the record player. Loved that place but my god it wouldn't last 5 minutes in this day and age
Agreed. My little one is a maniac and taking her to soft play places etc is nothing on what I grew up with. They had to shut Noah’s ark for insurance reasons, so the fun house of the seventies wouldn’t have stood any chance in the modern era. It is. There's a few pictures from different angles of the same time on the web. Think they're mostly on the history of Blackpool page on Facebook. It's a fantastic group to be fairIs that Crossley's bridge in Layton?
That is true. My gran used to live in the Queens Park tower blocks and the playground there was a deathtrap. In fact most were. Climbing frames and monkey bars built onto concrete. I've absolutely no idea how I managed to survived my childhood. I guess it was survival of the fittest. Local council's way of strengthening the gene pool for future generations.Agreed. Jungle Jim's, Peabodies, Tarzans, fun House and more all absolutely tower above any of these bland places. Even kids parks are crap compared to what I had as a child.
Yes and crossleys wood yard.Is that Crossley's bridge in Layton?
Glass half empty, planning for parking is included. positiveS are possibly 4/500 new quality jobs, footfall for the town centre. Not sure parking is ideal though. The new building is about 7 floors and will accommodate a lot of staff
Airport never closed!
I grew up on Kingscote Park. A death trap too but its part of what makes you. That is true. My gran used to live in the Queens Park tower blocks and the playground there was a deathtrap. I've not seen the parking bit to be fair.Glass half empty, planning for parking is included. positiveS are possibly 4/500 new quality jobs, footfall for the town centre.
There the one's I've seen. BrilliantNewly unearthed pictures reveal how Crossley's Bridge got its name
Officially it's called Plymouth Road bridge, but its better known as Crossley's Bridge - and these amazing newly unearthed aerial photos help explain why.www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk
Lots of fond memories in the Fun House but when you think back, how dangerous was it?
Saw many a person covered in blood after colliding with someone else but no such thing in those days as “where there’s blame, there’s a claim” culture
Nothing to do with council, but you crack on with your bashingClowncils have an unenviable record of fucjups and wasting tax payers money. The latest being the concert at the Blackpool Cricket Club. That was poorly attended due to bad publicity and advertising. Nobody in Blackpool knew it was on and they have spunked thousands on it. Derby baths and the Manchester Pub are the biggest bug bears in my opinion.
What about the Karnival fiasco, maybe a bit before your time, nothing changes.Nothing to do with council, but you crack on with your bashing
Remember Ken the fastest barman in the NW. That said I also remember the glass washing, being a quick dip into something that resembled a muddy puddle with a rubber tentacled thing & that was it. I survived though.THE LITTLE VIC

I was there, but can't remember....Did Blackpool win the European Cup or runners up one year?
My Grand father was store manager there before the war.
