Bully’s golden goal at Huddersfield

The pitch invasion as it happened will long live in my memory, especially the Rozzers having their helmets knocked off, brilliant night.

I was over the moon when I realised that was it, but it felt a little like an anti climax afterwards particularly when seeing the glum faces of the Terriers fans. It must have been an absolutely gutting experience for them.

A great night, which had started awfully with their 2 quick goals to wipe out our first leg lead. It was a weird experience celebrating a goal, then the realisation that it was also the end of the game. A very happy trip back over the pennines that night.

The Rozzers? Where are we, 1973? (Harry Roberts is our friend, is our.....)

Seem to recall that was out only shot on target all night?
I took a couple of mates from school as I lived in Yorkshire. 1 was a Utd fan and the other Arsenal. They absolutely loved it!

I was there too, mental scenes when it went in. I remember we were scared to death of their striker Clyde Wijnhard but we managed to keep him fairly quiet but only after they'd got 2 quick goals. We made so much noise that night the stand acoustics were better than the rest of the stadium and soon after that Huddersfield fans made it their new home end.

We got mullered all night and Bully said afterwards he'd had a bad game and he sounded more pissed off at the way he had played rather than be well chuffed for scoring the goal that won us the game! Epic scenes in the away end, I believe the youth of today refer it to it as limbs these days.......

Loads there that night but not as many as went to Sheffield Wednesday for that second leg. When did some attitudes change towards being one game away from Wembley?
I’ve been thinking about the change in attitude quite a lot. Who are we as a club/fanbase to look down on this trophy? We’ve had some great days out on it. The likelihood of us entering any other cup final is very unlikely. I’d suggest we’re more likely to end up in a Vase final than a league or fa cup final in our lifetimes. I believe the negative attitudes towards it come from fans up and down the land not being that bothered about cup football anymore. Plenty of mates who support the big clubs who often see going out of the cups as a blessing because all they care about is the league position. And that has filtered down to the little clubs like us. Those days out to Cardiff as a kid were magical, hopefully we can get back to Wembley and give this generation of children those memories too. COYP

One more point, would be nice to go to Wembley without the stress of potential promotion being on it.

I was there, you’re right. It was a one sided game and Udders were all over us until that Bully’s goal went in.

Apart from the goal I remember at one point during the match it was quiet in the ground.

One Blackpool fan stood up and shouted at the top of his voice, ' 'It's water, not watter, WATER!!' followed by more silence and everyone thinking, 'well someone has got something off his chest there!' It was hilarious!
