Burnley

Had treatment at the dentist last Friday.

My dentist is a Tranmere fan and asked if I was looking forward to playing Everton next season.

I replied that I'd rather it be Burnley.

No chance, he said it'll be the bitter blues.

They're bitter for a reason I said.
How would you feel if your neighbour had the best of everything.

He said their bitter because all they've got is swingball and Frank Lampard!!!

Burnley you can put them in the Nobbers,Cods and Bolton camp fuck em.
They’re good fans. We had some right ding dong battles in the 90s and noughties.
They never think they’re something they’re not, unlike two other local ‘B’ clubs I can think of.
Good club, down to earth fans, hope they stay up there.

Then there’s the Plastics who think they’re natural rivals are Man U and…
You lot, who think you’re the best fans in Europe.
Fuck’s sake, how did we come to be surrounded by such fantasists?

Then there's Preston. Bunch of bottlejobs and as dull as dish water.

We don't think that, thats a made up PNE joke to make you feel better about being so shit. We only say what other fans have said, that we've been the best fans to go there this season for many and at home at times.

We're right up there in the championship. Only PNE fans seem to deny this.

Pne would be right down there, shocking home atmospheres. Distinctly average away. Well done.

You lot like to call others deluded but in many ways it's you who is deluded. Many have called us a tiny club yet if it weren't for your funeral game and some cheap deals we'd have the same average attendance in our limited capacity stadium.

If anyone is deluded its you lot, that's why you keep most pool fans off there as you cant handle the banter and different views, you only keep a select few pool fans who generally go along with the narrative.

Your deluded about the boycott, most clubs fans appreciated the situation, but according to the geniuses on your site, it was abandoning the club. Completely ignoring and misunderstanding the issues.

When the owner is suing fans and there's ridiculous goings on after gaining prem millions that you'd barely believe, it makes sense. Of course its all there in the book how not to run a football club but rather than seek the truth you'd rather make up a narrative and stick with that.

But as usual your argument makes no sense, if people were abandoning the club because we slipped down the leagues then why, when we were in league 1 when the boycott fully begun, did we then get much higher crowds in league 1 once they had gone. Expect pne fans to ignore this crucial point as it completely undoes their fantasy reality. If league status was the issue that would happen would it 🤡

Then there's the town, which does have issues but also has a hell of a lot of positives, probably get 20 million visitors this year. So much to do, attractions, great coastline , great park, some great buildings and history, nice areas outside the central area. But of course with your biased view the negatives are all thats mentioned.

Despite me knowing many people from Preston who love it and love going there. Just seems most on that site are very bitter.

Prefer to have more lancs games and Burnley means more than Leeds, Everton would be good too.

Would be great to have Wigan, Burnley, PNE, Blackburn and Blackpool all together. Bolton too but that can't happen yet.

If only you d have said that in the first place then I'd have almost totally agreed with you.
My argument for Burnley staying up is that they ve spent a heap less than Everton or Leeds, are prob. The 'smallest club' left in the Prem. And Mike Jackson has done an amazing, unexpected caretaker job. Plus he did a couple of decent seasons playing for us once upon a time too.
So my vote, for what it's worth, is for Burnley to stay up

Well was a one line response.

Plus they are rivals and we want to play rivals and if they go down apparently in bad financial trouble.

I don't like they way they have apparently borrowed money to pay off the loan like man u owners have. Not the fans fault but never is.

Would like to see them come down.

That's as may be. I suspect Leeds and certainly Everton are far worse on the financial front and would come to earth with a huge clatter.
I get your point that Burnley is marginally closer to Bloomfield Rd. than Everton but not by much.
Leeds or Everton would still be huge games. Scousers and Yarkshire.

I think his point is that Burnley are our 2nd biggest rivals behind Preston, depending on who you ask. Some would say Bolton, but regardless the big 3 goes Preston then Bolton/Burnley (down to the person who puts who 2nd and 3rd).

Everton and Leeds would be big games because they are big clubs but the rivalry with Burnley is lightyears ahead of any sort of rivalry that Everton fans are Scousers has (not sure there is owt there with that to be honest), and the Lancashire/Yorkshire rivalry with Leeds has.

There are various reasons as to why all 3 would be great fixtures next season though, my vote is for Burnley as we'd have two proper derbies in the same season then. There's always an added element having the other Lancashire clubs about (Blackburn, Wigan) but a proper rivalry doesn't exist outside of Preston, Bolton and Burnley IMO.

Here's something interesting. Burnley have a £65m loan taken out when the new owners took over. A "significant portion of it is repayable immediately if they get relegated, so that would more than wipe out any parachute payments.

Looking at the table it may well be that you need more than 39 points to survive this season. That's a rarity.

Possibly, but Burnley & Leeds, 4 points from 4 games would get them to 38, Everton 6 from 5 does the same for them, I can't see all three of them doing that or better so 39 should be enough.

I was looking at who the teams have to play and think it's achievable for all of them. Not saying they will but not the hardest of run ins for all 3 maybe barring Leeds.

Middlesbrough fans will be in Blackpool in droves this weekend, nipping down the road for the game then getting straight out afterwards, back to Blackpool to enjoy themselves. Wonder why that is, if its so wonderful in Preston?

I think it's achievable for all 3, but I think there's a strong chance at least 1 of them will slip up along the way and that's what'll see them relegated.

Great response, I can think of a better four letter response to you.
Thing is with Preston is that they're bland. It's no wonder they make little noise because there's nothing to get excited about. The Prem dream gone by the end of Sept, the P/O's by the end of Oct.

Seriously from their pov the best thing that could happen is relegation. The excitement of a coffin march followed by winning maybe 3/4 games in a row might give them some identity and pride that's not just based on old invented traditions trotted out once a season.

Stay as they are and they'll have to invent a 'Jumpers for goalposts' day just to relieve the monotony.
