Burnley's view on us

Not great is it for a town where everyone supports one club.

Yeah we can get those sorts of crowds and are at the beginning of our rebuilding stage and haven't even got the final infrastructure in place yet. Once the east is in and we've had a few years after that I bet we’ll have a lot more than we do now, after years of acting more professionally and having some relative success.

Love taking the piss out of Burnley, the town and their fans but do have a grudging respect for them. They are a club who have gone about their business well and are an example to a lot of smaller clubs who make it to the Prem.
Very passionate bunch, having worked over there and spent a bit of time out East Lancs way I would say that as a (shit) whole they get behind their team. There seems to be a lot less Man U/Liverpool plastic fans than there are in other Lancashire towns, especially ours! Geography is in their favour as its quite an insular place.
The ’derby’ with Burnley has lost a lot of bite, it’s nowhere near what is was back in the 80’s & 90’s when both clubs were always battling in the bottom two divisions, a game against the ‘Clampits’ as they were more commonly known then was massive! Now it’s just another local game much like Blackburn or Wigan, for me Preston and then Bolton are the big ones.

Weirdly we arent on Bolton's radar at all, it's always going to be a bit more one sided with the fact they murdered one of our fans but outside of that there is a long history of playing each other, including the 53 FA Cup final. Yet they dont consider us even in their top 5 derbies.

Most Blackpool fans you meet put either Bolton or Burnley second. I think I prefer the Burnley derby as its reciprocal.

One thing I've noticed from their comments above - they're already the second team this year to say we were getting away with loads of niggly fouls and timewasting.

Most will put Manchester United as their most disliked but again it’s not reciprocated. They also consider Wigan, Blackburn, Preston & Bury bigger rivals than us.

Part and parcel of the championship game now, last year we were far too naïve at times and it cost us some points eg Middlesborough and Bournemouth at home where we conceded deep into extra time instead of adopting shithousery tactics!

With you on the despising 'em, their fans just need a reality check on who their rivals actually are!
