Played as well as I've seen him today. Well done lad
He always is excellent in terms of workrate and desire. He sometimes looks to be less than effective due to playing shite formations and tactics and stupid posters can't see that.Along with many others I thought he was excellent today.
He provided many of our best attacking moments down the left, defending was brilliant and he worked his socks off. Good to see him on his natural wing.
Absolutely not. It's like me saying that when I was 16 my parents were idiots. By the time I was 21 I couldn't believe how much more intelligent they'd become. The coaches ruined his natural strengths and abilities, now they are playing him to what he does best and he's now doing it very well. This is what Critchley means when he talks about adapting to the opposition. It isn't just about being reactionary defensively, it's about exploiting their weaknesses.
It also means now that both the opposition right back and their left back need to prepare for facing him.
He was brilliant today going forward and also looked strong in the tackle (can't believe I've typed that). He's really growing into thr wing back role, which the coaching team should take some credit for. Well done to CJ, Calderwood and McCall.
With respect, if I can explain.dead wrong. Why the fuck should some-one apologise for not rating a player?.
He has had three years of people passing behind him or to his feet . They have now sust that to put it in front of him to run on to he can do a job. I have never blamed CJ for any of his poor performances , I have blamed the poor tactics from 2 different managers to utilise CJs ability.I won't be apologizing for anything yet...
All these posts do is highlight how abject he has been for three seasons barring five good games at most in that whole time.
The last time someone did one of these posts he scored 2/10 the next game and both points were for the fact he managed to get his shirt on the right way around he was that bad.
When he performs on a regular basis then I will heap praise on him.
being pedantic, I'd say it wasn't that alone. Rhodes had to convert the penalty so he played a major part in that but I get the gist of your point. CJ though has to find a much greater consistency than he has shown so far in his time with us. Do that and he'll win the doubters over and people will only have positive things to say about him. With respect, if I can explain.
The point I was making was about how the game was won, through a CJ moment.
And that alone.
I made no reference to apologies or rating a player. Maybe read the post again.
I think you got stuck in the wrong argument there.
CJ is no Messi but he's our player and he can do stuff that wins games.
If he wore a headband you’d be happierbeing pedantic, I'd say it wasn't that alone. Rhodes had to convert the penalty so he played a major part in that but I get the gist of your point. If he had a headband perhaps he'd be worth 4 million. If he wore a headband you’d be happier
Your point about consistency is right, and for me he’s been delivering that. The problem has been that good performances have been brushed off as a flash in the pan, with fans jumping all over him, if he plays poorly in a poor team performance.
It’s been like that since he arrived at the club, and he needed confidence. He is now visibly boosted by the support he’s now getting from fans. Players do know what is being said about them, and of all our players, he’s the one that has been most doubted, often as a scapegoat.
We are seeing a player developing strongly in what is a new role for him. I’m delighted for him and if he has a poor game, that won’t change.
I get your point, but rarely does CJ play poorly when the team has played well. Other players have escaped criticism in the same games. He has been targeted. I’m not saying by you, but generally he’s been the one that has attracted most stick. As you say, it needs to be balanced and as much as I’ve always wanted CJ to have the fans support, I know he’s had poor games. If he had a headband perhaps he'd be worth 4 million.
I speak for myself though and I was lavish with my praise for him following his Wigan performance. I've made the point a few times now about being honest! If he or anyone for that matter plays well then say so, but then don't go and hide if he or anyone else plays shit. Reverse applies too. Some on here seem to think they are in a position of strength after a good performance so they like to come on here and have a go at fans who have been critical. It cuts both ways. And why I will continue to make the point when ever it occurs.
CJ is a regular starter but there's certainly been plenty of criticism of players like Carey, Morgan. And over the last few months i don't think anyone has received more criticism than Ekpiteta.I get your point, but rarely does CJ play poorly when the team has played well. Ok. Fine.being pedantic, I'd say it wasn't that alone. Rhodes had to convert the penalty so he played a major part in that but I get the gist of your point. It wasn't being antagonistic, he was simply stating there should be apologies for the OTT abuse he received. A lot of his bad performances coincide with him playing out of position. Play him in a more attacking role and you get the best out of him.....and paddle isn't being petty? Or antagonistic? Posters like him making comments about CJ always appear after a good a performance never a bad one. Total lack of honesty.
I'll praise any player in Tangerine if they play well.If he had a headband perhaps he'd be worth 4 million.

.....and let a lot of posters apologise on AVFTT for all the abuse Ekpiteta has been getting too then. It's a football msb where debate happens. You could hear the fans backing CJ yesterday so that should give his confidence a massive boost as opposed to what's written on here.It wasn't being antagonistic, he was simply stating there should be apologies for the OTT abuse he received. A lot of his bad performances coincide with him playing out of position. Play him in a more attacking role and you get the best out of him.
Still a poor footballer? OK, alongside Salah he'd be found wanting. But, he's playing 3rd tier professional football and doing quite well at the moment. There's many a pro' and semi-pro' winger who'd swap with him right now. He's used his pace effectively recently, including today. Still a poor footballer but used in the right way he's an assett.
You don’t get consistency playing out of position. Not unless you are really good and nobody is pretending that he is PL class which is the more reason to play him in his correct role.being pedantic, I'd say it wasn't that alone. yes of course Critchley has to play him in a position to get the best out of him. It's probably to black and white to suggest that he'd be better suited to home games where as such the onus is on us to take the game to our opponents. You don’t get consistency playing out of position. Too much of the bile thrown at him ignores this.
Again, he’s not a 46 game player for me, but essential when the game allows.
And that’s all I ask, to judge him when he’s being used in his best positio.yes of course Critchley has to play him in a position to get the best out of him. yes of course but he's been here long enough too.And that’s all I ask, to judge him when he’s being used in his best positio.
True, but how often has he been played as an out and out left winger? Asking him to cut in on his right playing rw is very hit and miss at best. If he plays in his proper position and has a stinker then it’s fair to be critical.yes of course but he's been here long enough too.
