Cambridge v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 16.12.23

New manager appointed just over a week ago. They have had some good results, so have we. Start of a busy fixture period. Squad bound to be rotated. I feel we are still on the up. Turn up and we will get three points.

Used to live walking distance from the Abbey Stadium, though last time i went we had Omergod and Murphy up front and we just knew we were going to win - took some friends and made some new tangerine converts that day. Would be nice to go to a match again full of confidence just for once!!

Big game. We need to go to places like Cambridge and win. Failure to do so just maintains the perception that this team isn't good enough to go up.

As put above, Cambridge away is an identified away win on rota for any team looking at getting promotion this year.
Blip against Northampton aside we are in form, 12 goals in 4 games.
Hopefully Critchley has not overthought his tactics ?

A point keeps in contention with Play Offs.
A win will make up ground on some of the top 6
NOTHING but a win will suffice today. For me, a point would be like a defeat really because of the number of games in hand the top few clubs have. Neil Critchley MUST allow the team to attack, which is the best form of defence.
Come on Pool, let's get three points.

They're a bang average team in L1, anything other than a win is points dropped. We need to have a little bit more arrogance and swagger. Time to start putting a few also-rans to the sword. 😁
I was calling for “arrogance and swagger” before a ball was kicked this season, it’s not happened but I hope recent performances should start to bread this mentality. Totally agree that we need to win games like this from here on in if we are to have a chance of promotion.

I’m away for the weekend so will avoid the result and watch it retrospectively , enjoy the game lads n lasses here’s to three points🍻

Need a win, just go for it. Another 0-3 please
Another awkward, unpredictable League One game this! Anything away from home is a bonus, but on paper we should have too much for them.

Don’t know what to expect, but I hope we get a good game and then travelling Seasiders get there and back safely. UTP👍

Currently ensconced with wife and dog for a week's break in the Old School House in Wereham, North West Norfolk. Yesterday I bought my train ticket for Saturday, Downham Market to Cambridge (return), 40 mins each way at a round trip cost of £9.20....a steal! I hope to be settled in the Cambridge Blue just after midday. UTP!
Hope your train’s aren’t cancelled. My mate caught one from Kirkham to Poulton last night & was late getting to Tory Corner due to a cancellation & a further 2 were cancelled on the return journey. He tells me they are better down South. No surprise there 🤞

If we set up mentally and physically like we did at Pompey we should win but we have to defend well and take our chances

I think 9/11 pick themselves today.
Positions up for grabs are CB: Casey/Eky/Connolly and WB: Lyons/Dale/Gabriel

50% of trains from Blackpool south were cancelled last night and you could only get a bus service back after 10pm😔

Loads cancelled coming home from Manchester last week!!

Chizzy. Talking about linesman not putting a flag up straightaway. That's just Premier League and because of VAR isn't it.
