Car Insurance

Anyone renewed recently?

Existing insurer just sent a quote 46% up on last year. Scoffed and went on comparison site and came up with pretty much the same much higher cost. Got a decent deal last time, but that increase generally seems excessive. Anyone in the know what is happening in insurance?

I renewed in September gone for the same amount more or less.

46% increase is shocking 🤦‍♀️

Got a quote from Churchill today..............

What the heck has fighting on the beaches got to do with my car insurance

Mine has remained much the same. There is a tool on money saving expert (Martin Lewis) that without actually lying you can save money by a little careful adjustments in your descriptions, job title’s etc. Have a go.

Yep, same here, I did manage to get a bit lower, but still shocking, 10 years no claims as well

LVI (Liverpool Victoria Insurance) online was half the cost of our broker’s best deal.
Probably because they are rocky and in dire need of a cash injection, but as a mutual are finding it hard to raise, so are scooping up any business. All’s well with cheap insurance until you need to make a claim.

LV……oops, no. I’ll bet saying goodbye on the 19th. Their increase was not as high as 46% but it was near.
I’ve discovered a company called “Flow” who are charging almost £150 less.
Worth a look?

My increase on LV was 33.545% (yeh, I know, a bit over the top😉)
Rang them up this morning and asked them to justify the increase, they wouldn't but said they could knock £13 off.
Told them to shove it, went on a comparison site and LV wasn't that bad!!!🙄
Trawling through companies this afternoon and ended up with Churchill, £10 more than what LV's renewal was but far better cover👍🏻

Ironically, Churchill is the one we are with atm

I got my renewal quote, which was up 30%. Went on a comparison site and found that Axa was £100 cheaper than my last year's premium so ended up with a reduction. I'm a bit wary of insurers. My experience is that they are all good until a claim is made.

Just got my renewal gone up over £200 from last year so been on Comparethemarket and been quoted similar to last years price!

I’ve been with Privilege for years and every year without a claim it drops a little. So I’ve stuck with them.
Only reason for 46% increase besides obviously trying to catch out lazy renewers, is a particular trigger point, e.g. points on your license, claim against you, or over or under a certain age threshold, etc.
