Carlisle fan in peace

Like others have mentioned I highly recommend Ambrosinis Italian on Squires Gate Lane (near to where you are staying). The only thing is it is quite small and very popular so I recommend booking. They do 2 sittings, 6 & 8, closed Monday.

We love Boscos in Lytham. Average prices for an Italian and not pretentious at all.
Ambrosisnis also a great shout.
As are all the aforementioned to be honest.

Get a tram to Bispham, on Red Bank Rd there are some nice restaurants + the beach and prom are less crowded and offer plenty of space. On Red Bank Rd I’d recommend Mi Casa Su Casa (Spanish) and Terra Nostra (Italian). There’s also a Greek called Othellos and an Italian called La Piazza, I’m led to believe these are both good too.

Reading this thread we are lucky to have all this on our doorstep with fairly good transport links aswell.

Guys, can I thank you all very much for all your suggestions, I’ve sent various links to the girls to get their views, but plenty to be going on with and looks like we will be well catered for in Blackpool.

Can I genuinely wish you all the best in tne championship and that you do as well as possible in what is traditionally, a very competitive league.

Thanks

Thank you 👍
My grandparents were both from the Carlisle, Penrith area only moving to the Pool through working on the railway.
So I feel an affinity with you guys. All the best for your club, and have a fantastic holiday 👍
Please report back and let us know how you get on.

If you're staying in South Shore and want to stay local there are excellent Indian and Italian restaurants at Statr Gate which is roughly a mile from you. Zest or India and Ambrosinis are their name if you want to check the reviews.

Ignoring the decor 'Jade Delight' (close by on Bond Street) is a great Chinese. As others have said Ambrosinis at Squires gate is amazing. Pastels in town do the best burgers and the food booths have Nintendo's for the kids to play on! If you fancy a takeaway then head to Harrowside where you have one of the finest Kebab places - Armenian and also one of the best chippys in Blackpool - Harrowside chippy.

Finish the night off by walking inland from Harrowside and the road becomes Highfield road where you have the Farmers arms, Winston's, Topo, The Paramount and hopefully soon to be open JD Drinkwater's fine ale House!

Also agree with the Heritage on Lytham road and also the Lido royal cafe also on Lytham road for breakfasts.

Good afternoon, congratulations on your promotion (obviously helped by two ex Carlisle United players !)while we continue to drown in mediocrity, pitiful owners and another year of false hopes and dreams, come August though the optimism will be back.

This might seem a bit random, but I am coming down to your lovely seaside Mecca in a couple of weeks for the weekend, I’m coming with my 3 daughters and grandson who is 5. Doing the normal stuff, mainly the PB and stuff like that.

We are staying in one of the premier inns, one nearest the PB, can you guys help out with some recommendations of nice places where we can get a good breakfast, and evening meal.

Doesn't have to be fine dining but also don’t want greasy spoon and wetherspoons. Girls are in their 20s, somewhere comfortable, nice food and atmosphere, particularly for the evening meal.

Really appreciate any suggestions guys, thanks in anticipation.
For breakfast you could drive to St Annes & try the Ashton Pavilion Café as I don't suppose you'll have had any drinks at that time of day 🙃 Found a nice Thai restaurant in town recently (we seldom bother with town) Boonnak Thai on Topping St. otherwise Highfield rd. Not Blue Diamond or the Paramount though.

Thanks so much guys, the Italian sounds great, I would consider a drive as we will have the car, but ideally staying in town then we can have a drink. Any breakfast places if possible ?
If you mean Ciao Ciao, it’s only a small place and not that easy to find. You would need to book - they fill up quickly.
Owner is a bit of a lively character 😂
Great food 😁

Hi Guys

just wanted to give you a quick update on our Blackpool trip after all of your places to eats recs, just got home.

Went to the heritage both mornings for breakfast, excellent, couldn’t fault the food or the quality of the ingredients, service was a tad slow, but they were very busy and it wasn’t a massive issue. Thanks for that one.

Friday we are at the west coast cafe, food went down well with everyone, we all had something different and my grandson enjoyed the kids menu, again, thanks for this.

Saturday we went to Bella Italia, not my choice for Italian food, one of my girls is gluten free and the two Italians you recommended didn’t seem to do GF pasta etc but BI do.

Service was very slow, my bruschetta was like eating cardboard and my oldest girl left half her pizza, but the other two girls and my grandson ate all of theirs, it was ok but I would have preferred Ciao Ciao.

The rest of the trip was pleasure beach, the piers, a little bit of shopping, Stanley Park, and a trip to the beach at Lytham today which was really nice.

So many thanks from myself and family for the time you took with your recommendations, really appreciated.

Quite worrying in the football front to see Carlisle have let two of our better players go to Barrow ! No disrespect to Barrow but it can’t be the area or the scenery they are going for. Shows how far our owners have let our club go, I am sure you can relate to this with the Oyston era. Our chairman once said “we would make a nice little non league club” he might get his wish soon rather than later.

All the best for the new season, I will keep an eye on your results.

Paddy

Glad you enjoyed it. All the best for next season! Chris Beech is one of ours, as you may know

I went to boarding school near Carlisle, Lime House in Dalston. When we used to go to the Carlisle football games the local kids spat on us..horrible little tikes. The guy who owned our school had once been a goalkeeper for Carlisle (so the legends went in the 80s) a Billy Brotherton...no idea if it was true or not

Yes it’s very true our chairman said that about CUFC. To be fair to him, he has piled in loads of money over the years to keep the club afloat, sadly he is in bad health now and his sons who run the business but also hear and read the abuse directed towards their dad have basically said, that’s it, no more money, I have sympathy with them.

I have checked with two mates of mine about Billy Brotherton, they know every blade of grass on Brunton park never mind whose played, and they have said Billy never played for cufc.

I think it was an urban legend tbf

Interestingly his son Dale who was a student at Lime House same time as me did have a spell as chairman of Workington FC and still looks like he owns the house and grounds of the school

I quite like the scenery around Barrow, but, unfortunately, you then get Barrow.
Glad you enjoyed your trip.
👍

How sad that everybody’s recommendation for food in Blackpool is ‘Lytham’ 😂 just mind that white stuff on the table, it ain’t salt

Sounds like you need a new chairman marra

If you want to go slightly further afield from where you are staying for food and a couple of beers there is a really good train service.
Platform near the pleasure beach and the train goes between south shore and Preston.
St Anne's is about 5 minutes and Lytham 10. Usually you don't have to pay!! Lytham train station is a pub and the last time I ate there it was value for money.
Abrosinis is top class and a lovely fella, book early though it's tiny, I think they're doing outdoor seating now mind.
