It's Central League Cup action tomorrow with Dobbie expecting a tough game against a Carlisle team expected to include some 1st teamers (dirty cheats).
The Development Squad are now setting up 3-4-3 to mirror the first team.

Not quite sure why Blackpool have tagged in Carlisle FC academy, this is a reserve league so expect Carlisle first team squad players to be involved. Apart from against the nobbers blackpool choose not to do that

50' - Goal Carlisle. Terry Ablade.
53' - Goal Carlisle. Terry Ablade.
73’ - Jake Daniels pulls one back with a smart finish inside the area.
3-1.

Is it our usual 3-3-4 all out attack formation (as if we play 3-5-2 with Dale & CJ - they’re wide attackers! 😁)

Firstly no one gives two hoots about the result but why are we suddenly getting pre match interviews with Dobbie and Eardley like anyone is interested? No one would ever look for the results let alone how they’re getting on In the league? I find it all a chronic waste of the clubs money, all resources should be put into the first team and a decent scouting network so we’re handily placed to get the best youngsters released by the big boys. Anyway let’s just be thankful we got the Critch and astute SS didn’t succumb to the fanboy pressure he was put under to install Dobbie

Well what can we say.I went and watched our young team preform, there are several very good prospects who need games. They battled back well this afternoon, you should come and watch a few games

So when we try and sign these youngsters will this be on basis that we won't be able to offer them any competitive football? They can't all be 1st team starters.
If your blueprint for Blackpool is applied across the EFL it doesn't bode well for the future for young British footballers.

In your opinion old boy. Suspect a lot of our fans would agree, all these development squads have always been a drain and non productive going back to Holloway when he suddenly started stockpiling every Tom dick and Harry. They all need paying and if I was SS I’d be wanting evidence from them as to what benefits they’re bringing to the club because I never see any.

Terry Ablade, Carlisle, scored two. Age 22, on loan from Fulham, 9 appearances so far this season in league one. Good performance from the lads against this team! Josh Miles sounds like a real prospect.

That’s the issue Insider we don’t sign them we just sign players that we consider ready for the first team squad of 20-25 players. Then it’s up to them as to whether they cut it or not but with an increased budget the first team should be stronger. I’d just then arrange the odd behind closed door friendlies for those not getting much game time.

I think you need to look at the background to the players that are playing for BFC's u18s and Development Squads.
Special mention was made this week of Will Squires who's been at BFC since he was 8. I think Jake Daniels and Zach Littler also fall into that category. There were possibly only 2/3 u16s that progressed last summer and were given scholarships. There maybe a couple of others.
But basically from a total of 30+ players in the 2 squads about 75% have come from other Academies including PL clubs.
