Marginally better than Plumpton that really is the pits. Newbury is the dogs.Great course been a couple of times
Saw David gray a few years ago I fell asleep
Hope he's being paid more than the winning trainers areFancied it because of the David Gray thing but didn’t book in the end
You get more piss heads and idiots at Haydock and Cartmel is always full and it is a great day out, although I reckon you’ve never been.7 races on the card with only one race with a decent winning prize (7k). To call this a racecourse is a joke as in reality it's a day out for piss heads and idiots.
Been to more racecourses than you've had hot dinners (to watch the 2 horses i have shares in). Only a fool would compare Haydock with Cartmel. You get more piss heads and idiots at Haydock and Cartmel is always full and it is a great day out, although I reckon you’ve never been.
So you’ve not been for 25 years but know it’s full of pissheads and idiots…Been to more racecourses than you've had hot dinners (to watch the 2 horses i have shares in). Only a fool would compare Haydock with Cartmel.
Also for the record, the last time i visited Cartmel was May '97 to watch a horse a family friend was riding called Appearance Money and it fell 3 from home. Ironically it fell again at Cartmel in Aug '98 and unfortunately died.
When i see races called "sticky toffee pudding handicap" and tomorrow is "gazebo day" i'll stick to attending proper race meetings if you please. So you’ve not been for 25 years but know it’s full of pissheads and idiots…
I suggest you give it another go. It’s a brilliant day out with family and friends and a good way to introduce new people to the sport. If you’ve got shares in horses then you need races like Cartmel to keep people interested.
I all depends on what you class as lovely. I attend meetings to watch quality racing and to enjoy top class facilities, both of which you will not find at Cartmel.Agree about Cartmel being a lovely course and a great day out for the family racing is not always about big prize money and big fields running.
And I totally agree about the piss heads at other big race courses but never at Cartmell that’s why it’s so special.
Wifes birthday next Saturday so going to Carlisle for the evening meeting and staying overnight at a B/B. Hows that for Bispham snobberyBlimey, race course snobbery, I didn't know that existed.
Each to their own but I attend loads of race meetings throughout the year but always love going to Cartmell 3 or 4 times a year.I all depends on what you class as lovely. I attend meetings to watch quality racing and to enjoy top class facilities, both of which you will not find at Cartmel.
I went to that meeting with the Mrs in 2004 and she picked out a horse called Strawberry Dale in the first which was available to back at 25/1. I had a look and told her not to waste her money.Wifes birthday next Saturday so going to Carlisle for the evening meeting and staying overnight at a B/B. Hows that for Bispham snobbery
Cheers!Marginally better than Plumpton that really is the pits. Newbury is the dogs.
Been to many courses and never worn a top hat or drank Pimms and just because i have shares in horses with the Skelton and Alex Dunn stables i don't pretend to have plenty of dosh. Each to their own but I attend loads of race meetings throughout the year but always love going to Cartmell 3 or 4 times a year.
Racing is not always about top hat and tails and people drinking Pimms and pretending they’ve plenty of dosh simply because they are there.
Perhaps you should read my post again.Been to more racecourses than you've had hot dinners (to watch the 2 horses i have shares in). Only a fool would compare Haydock with Cartmel.

My late father used to say that if you fancy it put your money down as the horse doesn't know what price it is.I went to that meeting with the Mrs in 2004 and she picked out a horse called Strawberry Dale in the first which was available to back at 25/1. I had a look and told her not to waste her money.
I’ve still not been forgiven as it romped home up the hill!
I’ve never discouraged anyone from backing a horse since!
With an average of only 9 meetings a year at Cartmel i think i'll give it a miss and concentrate on attending/betting at proper racegoers meetings instead of the shirt sleeve/ farmers day out meetings. Might i suggest that you save your hard earned and visit the Knavesmire for the Ebor.Perhaps you should read my post again.
I have not compared the 2 race courses, I said there are more idiots and piss heads at Haydock
And very interesting that you know how many race courses I have visited.
Perhaps you could use your physic ability to pick some winners at Cartmel. Just saying like.
I did and it won at Uttoxeter at 3/1 when i saw that he had ducked with his Cartmel entry (with his 2nd string jockey riding it)You do that and keep backing David Pipe.
And you’re going to CarlisleI all depends on what you class as lovely. I attend meetings to watch quality racing and to enjoy top class facilities, both of which you will not find at Cartmel.
Which is far superior to Cartmel. Do they plumbed in toilets yet ?And you’re going to Carlisle
I’ve never been Cartmel but heard it’s a good day out, but you can’t give your big I am speech and then go Carlisle (for a birthday ).Which is far superior to Cartmel. Do they plumbed in toilets yet ?
YesWhich is far superior to Cartmel. Do they plumbed in toilets yet ?
It was a great day, lots of peolle wnjoyjng themselves. Picnic tables out, wine and champers flowing and no problems at all. Racing was good too.No i'm sleeping under a gazebo (sorry that's Cartmel isn't it)
You should go to the Bell and Cumberland Plate day at Durdar Rd instead of the Sticky Toffee Pudding Chase.
Another buffoon who knows nothing about horse racing.
Ripon is a decent course but unless a horse adapts to the undulating track it's no chanceI went to thirsk ripon redcar catterick all decent courses full of geordies enjoying a day out no problems
