Charlie Patino cryptic message

Would be a great signing but I would think he is well out of our price range.

More likely to go to a champ club or abroad imo.

Hilarious. He will get another loan season although they might send him to the continent (Belgium / Holland) for a season where his technical ability would shine through.

I don’t think he’s ready for Arsenal Prem campaign yet when you compare him to the other midfield options they already have.

He did toughen up towards the end of the season so may do another Championship season somewhere but he needs an enforcer if not two, alongside him to let him shine.

Ironically, with Norburn and Kenny he’d boss it in Div 1 but why would he drop that far down?

He was linked with an 18m move to Brighton a few days ago, there is no way he is coming here, like the vast majority of loans, we have to accept they just come for their initial loan period and will never come back. Obviously there is the odd exception but patino, with his ability, potential and price is not coming back

Maybe he likes the Gold Coast. Not sure about him TBH. If he was a bit quicker then ok. His possession skills were decent though.

Might be a controversial opinion, but I wouldn't take him in League 1.

Nowhere near physically strong enough. He'd excel somewhere like the Spanish second division, where technicality is more important.

Technically he's a very good player. He also had the right attitude and works his socks off. Lack of pace and not being the greatest tackler are an issue. I wish the lad all the best and he definitely will have a good career, whether he can reach the level needed to play for the likes of Arsenal is up for debate however.

I dont understand this lack of pace comment that I keep hearing

He's a quality footballer and you dont need to have blistering pace to play centre midfield

Infact I cant think of many centre midfield players who run like sprinters
Totally agree and if he had played last season with Norburn and Trybull behind him he would have been immense.

As for us signing him and the subliminal message!! He won't be coming anywhere near us again as a player unless we draw a EPL team in the cup and he plays against us!

He got a bit of the Glen Hoddles about him though as I said he learned to put a foot in last season and also to defend himself against aggression.

Last season was the best education he could have got. Regularly booted, having no protection, playing in a poor team and suffering defeat after defeat.

If that didn’t motivate him to never experience that again then he won’t have learned. Great young prospect

Never going to happen, but imagine Patino coached by Critch, with a confident squad around him…

I think he's destined for a permanent move to a championship club this season, maybe NOT Preston, and he will be fine. I really wished we had played him just behind the strikers, in a GTF role. With the ball, Patino had very quick feet and a good shot on him.
🧡UTMP🧡

I can’t believe people think he wouldn’t be a great signing. I think he’d be a phenomenal signing! Given how well he played in the right team last year and given he’s still a teenager, he’s going to be a brilliant player for someone.

Incorrect.
There is no evidence to suggest he would be a GREAT signing. His influence was good early and he faded. Now under Critch with more experience around him he might be a decent signing but I can’t see how you can yet stretch to great even taking potential into account, he didn’t look athletic or robust enough.

I think he’s a fantastic talent and I’d absolutely love to have him back in Tangerine, but I can’t see it happening.

Critch will coach him better than the shit-for-brains we had last year.

We're a league below so his talent will be more apparent.

He's a year older, therefore his body will be more developed, making him less lightweight and more robust.

Under 21 so wouldn't count in the squad limit.

Very high ceiling for a player who would already get into our starting 11 or at least be very close to challenging for a starting spot most weeks. A player who already did get into our starting 11 most weeks last year.

Really unsure why you don't think he'd be a good signing? 😵‍💫

Or is your qualm about my use of the word great instead of decent? 🤪

The primary thing with CP isn't coaching, it's having complementary players around him that do their job and allow CP to do his. He didn't have this last year.

Another year here in familiar surroundings would do him no end of good, and us.

£18m 😄

I think Patino got / gets a rough ride from.our fans over his physicality.
I thought he put himself about well and even wasn't afraid to get stuck in.
A lot of Pool fans questioned his value to the team,
if you watch the goals of the season that the club put to the vote he scored 2 and assisted in 3/4 of the others from memory.
As a player he will only get better, needs someone alongside him to compliment him and I'd take him back here in a heartbeat.

Every player needs coaching

Obviously.

However in CP's case he could receive the best coaching in the world, but put him in last years midfield and that coaching will be wasted. He has to have the players around him.
Complimentary players around them that do their job is a necessary component for a cohesive team, not just Charlie patino doing well...

The problem with Patino is that you have to pay for what he could potentially be and not what he is now, which is why daft figures like £18m are being thrown about. He could be a top prem player in 5 years time with his obvious talent, or he could flop and never reach his full potential, it's all a gamble
