Charlton Athletic v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 07.10.23

To not see out a game from 2 nil at that time, against a side that's struggled in the division for years and has got Appleton as manager is pathetic.

We're meant to be a side that's going to be 'up there' wanting to go back up.

We were 2 nil up with less than 10 minutes to go.

That's pathetic, little chance we're going up this year unless we drastically improve.

We were a lot better when Lavery came off, he is too ineffectual for me and Dembele and Kouassi should start ahead of him.

I thought CJ had another great game, he is constantly good now and I thought the blalance with Thommo on the other side was good.

It's always really disappointing when you let a 2 goal lead slip away with so little time to go but it happens and we got another point, I thought we played well for 40 minutes much better than the other night at home.

He should be banned from making any substitutions in the second half of games unless there’s an injury.

Fantastic game of football today. It hurts to lose a 2.0 lead late on but there are two teams playing and mistakes will be made by league 1 players. You sunshine are either a windup merchant or a knobber either way I am delighted I am not you.

That's great. You be delighted. I'll be pissed off. It's not like we need the points so let's just celebrate a good match.

Didn't say I was delighted did I but I've been watching Blackpool for nearly fifty years and I've managed to get through all that time without turning into a miserable fookwit like you.
I am very 'happy' for you.

Bottom line is we are under performing and it's not good enough.

Our ball retention is not good enough. I dont understand why Oakley Boothe is not being introduced to a match day squad. He clearly
has good ball control and at 23yrs the coach should be including him more. We lack players who can control the
the ball certainly in midfield. What is the point in signing these players ?

Having watched the game today Im quite philosophical after a 2-2 draw. Disappointing but we we were under intense pressure in the last and they missed a lot of chances. We were much more in control in the first half , we had difficulty keeping it tight in the second half. Great goal from Dembele but for the second goal gave a pass away in their box and they took it up the other
end. Morgan not a good sub, lacks defensive quality.
Need better options in midfield though Carey and Dougall did ok for the first half at least.

Lavery's run off the ball made the first goal. That was as much of an assist as Husband's pass.

Felt substantially more than 933 there.
Agreed on this. Felt more like 1,100 or so. Atmosphere decent enough bit flat first half though and obviously after it went 2-2.

Clearly a popular London away day is Charlton. Had a good few beers at the Anchor & Hope and a few other pool did too
