Not been to London for a while so a bit of advice please. The train is too expensive so we're looking at Park n Ride.

Stanmore is one option - zone 5.

Looks like day ticket is £13.90 covering zones 1-5. This would enable us to get to the cruise pick up, but not sure about Woolwich Pier to Charlton

Anyhow is there a glaringly obvious alternative I should be looking at? Ta 👍

They are expanding the ULEZ zone from the North Circular to encompassing all London boroughs but I’ve not heard anything about changing rules re compliance. I haven’t driven down there since last year though so best double check.
 
Just booked for 6th October from Liverpool returning on Sunday 8th
£23 out and £16 back with Avanti using a railcard.As I have joined Avanti club I get first choice before the bargains are released on public.
They will release more advance tickets soon from Blackpool and Preston.

If there is a strike you can obtain a full refund.

Now available at £32 each way. Buy a railcard such as 2 for 1 or family
Better than that awful drive and parking problems etc.
 
Anyone planning a lot of away game by train might want to think about getting annual travel insurance.

Still 72 each to Euston based on buying 2 x two together cards. And then need to get to / from the ground - another tenner?. Compared with 30 driving - Inc cross London.

Extra £50 each - £200 between the 4 of us.

Early start, hopefully beat most of the hotspots. 👍

I might be tempted but not for my 3 lads - Ridiculous prices considering they were only just released - and don't get me started on the pay on the day prices.

Anyhow, any alternates to Stanmore a heads up would be appreciated.
 
National Express far cheaper if you can suffer the coach for a few hours. Done if a few times and in fairness some are actually quieter than the train.

Not possible unless you are willing to take the overnight buses and 8 hours each way.
It is £35 return. You save £19. Train day return is £54. On08:00 and return departure at 18:30.
Only just over 2 hours each way.
 
last went to Charlton about 2003, fa cup game . BSA coach i seem to remember. WE were in a pub which had a library or maybe loads of books on the shelves. well pissed . great pub though. anyone know what it is called. love to find out.

With a Railcard? Which is £30

Plus is your an adult solo traveller there isn't one.
 
If you want to drink near the ground the Anchor &Hope is a very good pub with a beer garden on the Thames. It’s a 15 mile minute walk.

Possibly The Antigallican. Just passed the station and the one BASIL took over for that game. About 2pm, big roar went up when rhe football special from Blackpool arrived. Great day.

I am getting such an early train because I MUST be at Westminster Pier for the boat and if the first two trains are concealed I can jump in the car and still make it!
