Cheated out of Fiorini

On Dougall. He's needed atm. We know his limitations in the passing dept., but he can have good spells in games. Personally, when he's 'trapped' deep he gives the ball away far too often, or just inspires panic with wrong passes. Playing with a little more freedom slightly further up he doesn't have the same instinct to just get rid and is far better.

Fiorini was a massive plus first half- great ball for the goal and even better one before that- and it was great to see MM actually try and go out and win the game from the off, rather than this, 'keep it tight until the last 20 then bring on the big guns' bollux. Penny dropped. That said it will be defensive v Rovers I think. Just makes me angry to think we've thrown 4 points away by not playing this way (certainly 2) and then the table looks a bit different.

I had speculated weeks ago that I wondered whether LF was being kept on as a deal was in place. I hope @Phil_bfc deux has heard this elsewhere.
There’s no deal in place to sign Fiorini. City tied him to a 5 year contract for a reason and it wasn’t to sell him to us.

Excited to see Fiorini and Rogers linking up for the rest of the season. They know each other well and have a rapport that was obvious in that opening 20/25 mins. Likely they played a bit with Poveda too - so that will certainly help the cause.

I think Fiorini brings that intelligence to the middle that we maybe lack from other players - when to sit on the ball, when to release, when to press etc. It’s certainly a hole in Carey’s overall game and something Dougall doesn’t really have due to a lesser technical ability with yet ball at feet.

I think Stoke clocked the Fiorini / Rogers link up pretty early on as they made a change to force Rogers into a deeper position which meant his physicality and hold up play higher up the pitch (which he did excellently) was minimised - it also removed Fiorini’s first choice pass.

Really hoping MM can confirm Fiorini was just subbed off to rest him as opposed to any tightness or a knock. 45 minutes of development team football since August and then 45 mins of Championship football only 3 days later was a massive ask.

Was watching the interview with him from Saturday and I thought he'd have a lovely Italian twang to his accent .. he's as common as muck 🤣

Playing only the first half was probably good for Fiorini.
Gave him a good workout without putting too much pressure on him.
He'#ll get better as he plays more.

That injury has cheated us out of watching the lad for the last few months. Brilliant first half. A proper passing midfielder and the zip he puts on it too.

Might be the little ball playing midfielder we needed to get this revival going.
I was looking forward to big things from Fiorini and Patino in midfield - especially after QPR away. Then we lost him.
