League One is miles better than the Championship...

1. We should be challenging unlike in the Championship, we can stroll in to each game knowing the opposition are going to be blown apart by Critchball Mk 3.

2. No glory hunters at matches, easier parking and pies.

3. We don't have to go to Preston.

4. Fleetwood aren't in it.

4. We'll get to go to Rotherham instead.

5. No patronising coverage about sticks of rock and towers.

6. Our loans will be shitter and therefore more relatable.

7. Everyone can be all martyrish about it, football is suffering remember.

I actually don't feel any pain really as I never fully expected us to do it or results to go. It just wasn't surprising.

It was a fitting end to the season and summed up our campaign.

No nervy end to the season now just a relaxed summer.

A couple of potential positives are...

We weren't really ready to go up and haven't built a sufficiently strong squad to get up and stay up, so would have been scrambling for many signings in summer and we've struggled to do that at championship level, as we often get gazumped by another club.

It's probably easier to build much of the squad at league 1 level and also to hone whatever style of play it is we need, as opposed to being on the back foot often just after results.

We now have a long summer rather than a short one which if we missed out in the playoffs, all the business is on hold.

We have plenty of time and all the recruitment team in and settled to really push on hopefully.

The only issue is the manager, I doubt he'll go but if he does, get it done and then support the new man.

Prefer another third level flop to a serious Championship tilt?

How apt, with George Orwell's picture:

●Black is white.
●War is peace.
●Freedom is slavery.
●Ignorance is strength.

The only sound from the fans set to renew season tickets for Critchley dross?

The clutching of straws.

'Whoosh'

(Black is white was never part of the Oceania motto by the way, you might have got it confused with blackwhite, a newspeak term)

Apart from Jordan Henderson and the boys in the Euros forget about football for a few months. Enjoy the summer sports ...golf and cricket for me...ignore the meaningless pre season games and be ready to go first league game of the season in August.

Get yer Season tickets roll up roll up roll up. New manager millions spent on players buy one get one free I said buy one get one free. Promoted by Christmas 🎄.

Great advert.

I'm over it and looking forward to the summer

Hopefully a chance for the club to reset and clear out some of the deadwood we seem to have accumulated over the last few years

Would be nice to get things sorted early rather than going into the season with no wingbacks 😂

It certainly keeps those with zero ambition for our club happy.
That's not the spirit Macamundo, just imagine, early August...the sun lending an almost ethereal glow to the Travelodge sign as you excitedly make your way up Bloomfield, kids run past you in their new away kit towards the bus stop, although they're struggling a bit Man Utd do a nice shirt you think..you hear chatter from the older group behind you on what to make of the new striker poached at the last minute from Walsall and the two loanees from Brighton reserves...you feel a renewed spring in your step..maybe it was the near miss in the Euros, Southgates men cruelly robbed in the semi final on penalties after a pulsating 0-0 against a surprise Hungarian package...maybe it's the rumours of a new corner flag sponsor...it's probably the new artistic impression of the training ground that's just been released along with news that Neil Critchley himself has been involved with the design of the car park pass...

The summer's friendlies are definitely a factor in this optimistic mood, you grin to yourself as you recall the 1-0 at home to Oldham, 1-1 away to Morecambe and a chaotic 1-0 win away at AFC Fylde, the Zinger Tower meal never tasted so good after that one.

You almost sprint to the gate now, the dulcet tones of Tony Parr incomprehensibly muttering something about sponsors welcoming you back, you're home you think and this is it, this is the season we go up as champions...

Weeks ago it was obvious it was not going to happen, so no sadness yesterday.
The positive is eventually our coach will prove us wrong, or we are one day closer to SS realising it is a case of 'The Emperors New Clothes.'

You forgot the mesmerising half time entertainment. Perhaps that is the size of football some of our current lot need to play with.

It makes it tougher when a win yesterday would have caused last minute euphoria when Northampton equalised in 96th minute.
Only Villa still left in any of the European trophies.

Still as mentioned there are the Euros and of course the Olympic Games.
Always love the Olympics and a chance to watch sports I tend to ignore.

I’ve just ordered a new tartan blanket, the old one was looking a bit threadbare, and I just couldn’t get the bovril stains out

I’ve also ordered a job lot of Werthers (original not those gooey ones)

I’ll be ready to go again come August 👍🏾
