Cheltenham Town v Blackpool Official Matchnight Thread 13.02.24

Would like to see Byers start next to Norburn.....

Should win. If we don't and results pan out the way they should on paper then I'd think that's it for the season. Of course we win and some coupon busters turn up and it's back on. If that isn't a big motivator to go for it I don't know what would be. Just hope someone put 50p in the leccy meter that fuels a manager lightbulb moment. I suspect it will only be a 25W bulb to light a warehouse though.

Away match = guaranteed defeat.

Cheltenham 1-0 Blackpool
Not necessarily, although I can understand why you say that. They really have nothing to lose by just trying (badly) to avoid defeat and take a draw. As Wham might have penned: GET BACK, HAND'S OFF, GO FOR IT!

There is absolutely no excuse here against a side near the bottom of the table ,we should be taking the game by the scruff of the neck and thrashing it about till it’s dead .Of we cannot win this against a team with 7 wins we really buried

Same team as sat bar byers in for someone 🤔 although wouldn't complain with casey in either.

3Pts and convincing performance are needed with boro home and away and Bolton next 3... never mind inform orient.

Already heard critch say how good Cheltenham are... 😲

I am fairly confident of a win here, but let’s face it we have to win at least two of these four upcoming away games to stay in contention.

Well he isn’t going to say they are pants. Give them more motivation

We have to toughen up against the big, physical sides, something Critch has failed to do in several away matches this season. Play Marv and Casey at the back and Byers, Virtue and Morgan in midfield.

We don’t tend to do well in midweek away games (or Saturday away games come to that). They’re a better team than their position suggests, having beaten Oxford and Portsmouth at home. All those whe think this is going to be easy may have a surprise.

We have to win this game to have even the remotest possibility of a play off place. Therefore we need to bench Ollie ‘backpass’ Norburn and play Byres. Got to go for it against a side in the relegation zone. All or nothing.
I’d keep Norburn in but change to a 4 at the back

I think your right

Have you ever heard any manager say the opposition is frickin hopeless and we are going to hammer them . No , neither have I . It's called being respectful.
I've actually never heard a manager say every team is difficult and spends his entire life concentrating on what the other team does.

Imagine he spent a bit of time worrying about us and our terrible away form. We might actually be up there.

Wow!

Anything could happen!
We might go for the throat and come away with a resounding win...or do the usual stay in the game approach and slip to a 1-0 defeat.
Impossible to be confident of getting the 3 points under Clueless and his befuddled bunch of players.

I'd like to see this team starting

O'Donnell
Gabriel Ekpiteta Casey Husband
Morgan Norburn Byers
Dembele Kouassi Joseph

Grimshaw Lyons Coulsen Pennington Virtue Hamilton Lavery

I'd also like to see a better use of subs and tactics, not just like for like replacements late in the game.

Would love to see a win tonight but sadly I've lost all faith in Critch

Whenever we've showed fight, resilience and a bit of team spirit, he tinkers, and we take two steps back

Please Neil, prove me wrong..
