They could be promoted on Saturday. Would that be some kind of record?

The relegation struggle in that Division is epic this season.

Chessie have been excellent this year, with Paul Cook (Could have done a good job here), back with the Spireites and about to get the success that he nearly got with them last season.

They regularly get 6-7K crowds and the Stadium and infrastructure are brilliant.

Form table says York and Dorking will go down with the hapless Oxford City.

Not much chat about this division since AFC Fylde went on a post Christmas winning streak bonanza. The haters on here have gone quiet.
I thought you were against criticising fellow fans😉

There's some lovely little battles being fought at the top and bottom of every league this season for a change with Chesterfield being the obvious exception.

'Would that be some kind of record?'

How so? For being the only team to achieve promotion whilst also hailing from a town renowned for having a church sporting a crooked spire? Sorry if there are folk out who'll no doubt deem that as being a bit of a stab in the dark! It's just my knowlegde of non-league footy is, at best, a tad sketchy ...

What I meant was, it is bloody early to win the League.

Whenever I hear Chesterfield I'm reminded of a great chuckle I had on holiday once in Mexico.

Long long straight road, with all the hotels off it, they ran a public minibus service that for a couple of coins you could the full length, think it was called the Connectivo. The whole place was overrun with Americans, but you can't have everything can you.

Quite early on, one realised there was little point in getting too specific when asked where one came from. The limit of both the American and local population seemed to be - you're English? I love London. I even gave up saying not far from Manchester and just agreed that London was wonderful and encapsulated everything good about our great country.

One day I had the prized front seat in a Connectivo minibus, next to the driver. Loads of Americans in the back. So I didn't see the bloke who got on, but I heard him and have had a mental picture ever since. The side door opened, someone climbed in and said in a very high pitched voice Ola everybody. An American inquired "where you from son". "Chesterfield, it's got a crooked spire".

I went to Uni with a right boring tosser from Chesterfield, he was adamant that it is not a CROOKED spire, its TWISTED
I wasn’t interested enough to check or to identify the difference, but just thought I would pass on that piece of wisdom

It’s ’crooked‘ , the guy was a tosser. Technically twisted, but nobody and I mean nobody here calls it that.

As Chesterfield lost last night they cannot now beat Wrexhams points total of 111 last season which must be a slight disappointment for them

It's both, 45 degree twist and the tip leans 9ft 6in off centre

And just to keep us back vaguely on topic, Chesterfield was also the birthplace of Arsenal & Scotland goalkeeper (and later BBC Sports presenter) Bob Wilson

My first ever away game without parental guidance which was a proud moment for me back in 1986/7, 1-1 draw after Paul Stewart put us in the lead.

One of the most depressing old grounds there was, I remember on season it never stopped raining from the minute we got there to the minute we left, open terrace, no atmosphere, it was bloody horrible.
