CLUB ANNOUNCES INTRODUCTION OF DIGITAL TICKETING....

On Friday I asked about moving our season tickets, was told it was 15 quid each to print new cards. They can't possibly charge me now?

I think that might be the main driver...to stop fans passing on their tickets.

The contactless season ticket will be either on the website or the app. Another person simply needs to give you their login details. No different than letting a family member / use your SkyGo / BT App / Netflix account.

If you have to scan off your phone that will be fun…and that’s before you get started with those who are trying to download to their wallet using data around the ground!
Not sure if you download once then its there or if you just so before you get there.

I've got a pay as you go phone so can someone tell me how to download it to that and how do I then put it in my wallet which at the moment has got a five pound note in it and a few other bits and bobs such as when my next dentist appointment is.

I'm a bit surprised this has got such a reaction. I don't think people need panic, it'll be a long time (if ever) before it becomes the only way to gain entry. But this will eventually be enabled for matchday tickets which will make it much quicker and easier for casual fans to attend. It's like it used to be when you paid cash on the turnstiles, and there was no need to queue up at the ticket office or print at home etc. I know some will say why not just enable cash at the turnstiles but that's not going to happen, and cash will be a thing of the past soon anyway. It's a positive development. You've been able to buy phone tickets for trains for years and it's so much easier, and contrary to popular belief you don't need a phone signal because the ticket is downloaded to your phone.

Yes an additional option, they don't have to use it.

🙄

At risk of being shot down here but doesn’t our crest have “Progress” on it?

There’s no mention of this being the only way you’ll be able to access the ground this season, next or even the one after? The card readers which are in place to scan the physical season card have the ability to read a ticket stored on a smart phone so why not make the most of that functionality?

Scanners at airports and lots of other places allow you to use both boarding cards on pieces of paper or ones stored on a phone and there wasn’t an uproar when the technology was introduced there that I can remember.

Allowing those who want to have a season ticket on their phone, or those who forget to take their physical season ticket card to the match with them can use it is good. Those who want to only use a physical season ticket card can also do so I don’t understand the grief this added “option” is getting on here. As someone mentioned above, its in its infancy and normal ticketing will be around for some time.

Be meltdown on here when the club progresses to allow you to have a single match ticket on your phone even though it will save us exiles £2 for the pleasure of printing a ticket at home.

I like having the physical season ticket card with me but will also have it on my phone when they allow those in the North stand to have it.

An option at the moment x3 but will become mandatory before long, next season perhaps?🤔
Well you’re right .. If everything is fine right now, then we might as well manufacture a negative outcome that fits with an imaginary conspiracy 👍

The short answer…No

I can’t imagine why they would make it mandatory at any point ever. To do so would be self-defeating and rather stupid.

I hope its set up better than T.T.V as that's been an absolute unwieldy pig of a beast to use so far this season. Taken me 2 weeks just to get it set up

Be interesting to see how Liverpool operate a similar system (l believe).

As said before, if they make it compulsory to have a digital season ticket then I’m not going anymore. It’s a absolutely joke, do they not understand that not everyone has a Apple or Android phone and not everyone wants to have everything digital in the event of a technical issue or when the global cyber attack occurs (It’s only like if you lost it physically).

Soon, everything will be digital and nobody will want to go out and watch football and they will just sit at home watching on Sky Sports with mostly empty stadiums.

I think I recall there was a debate on this on TalkSPORT Drive with Goldstein & Bent last week and most fans across the country would mostly be happy with a print-at-home option where they can have the choose of either showing it on your phone or you print is a e-ticket.
So you're happy to sit at home and watch a digital channel. Isn't that completely counter to your previous argument?

And by the way, you can still print at home. Presumably on a digital printer?

If we are going fully digital from next season does this mean that any cup / additional games i.e. play off tickets will incur a booking fee?

You'll probably have to pay £2 to download it.

Quite a few moans as per. Those that are tech savvy now have a backup option if they lose or forget their ST card. I welcome the introduction of technology, all dinosaurs eventually become extinct. 😂

You mean actually using your noggin? That'll never catch on😂

It's a great step forward by the way and hopefully can be extended for all ticket purchases at some point... Saves plastic, issues with lost cards etc...

Big Thumbs Up from me

👍👍
my father in law is80 he doesnt have a phone so in the new world should he just stay at home ?

I’ve downloaded it into my Wallet…now here’s a thing…I’m going to keep my plastic s/t in my real wallet…..it took some thinking through but I think I might have all angles covered…..
