Hi Guys, this is 'Record Dave' from Cobweb, sorry for the late reply, but I'm currently in the (stressful) process of selling my late Mother's house in Cleveleys. Many thanks for all your kind words whilst reminiscing about the past, it's much appreciated!
I'm still watching the Pool at every home game, plus (occasionally) away and praying for a miracle in the next two weekend's fixtures!
Cobweb was first established in late 1971 in a small shop on Victoria Rd Cleveleys (which used to be a Chiropodists), in between where KFC is now and Mr.Nitros Ice Cream (which used to be an old hardware store). I started working there as a weekend job at the age of 12 with free records as my payment. We then expanded into the corner shop and then later moved into larger premises down the road, which is now BP Insurance (formerly Swinton). I became the Cleveleys shop manager after leaving Baines Grammar School in Poulton.
Cobweb Poulton opened in 1974 as part of the original Teanlowe Shopping Centre, on the outside facing the car park, next to the public loos! Myself and Geoff (the original business partner to the recently deceased Derek Kirk) took over the Poulton Cobweb in 1985 and successfully ran it until 2007, when nobody wanted to buy music anymore (only download). We then sold our lease to Lloyds Chemist next door, who knocked through into a double unit and the rest is history!
Take care, keep the faith (whichever division we are in next season) and UTMP!
