I hope he does prove me wrong, I would be super happy if he did. He’s a million times better than the stains and Carmell before them. I’m trying to look at it from a different perspective and I don’t think the points I raise are unreasonable. It hasn’t gone as he’d hoped, I can’t agree that we got promotion too quickly, we got it and deserved it and he has to take massive credit for that and for funding us through Covid at the same time. I think a lot of the problems we are seeing now stem from the complete surprise of Quitchley going to Villa, no one saw that coming and he must have felt betrayed. I bet if you asked Quitchley what he would do if he could go back I bet he would say he wished he had stayed here, but by following that path Sadler and BB have struggled to get the train back on the tracks. If MM and the layers can keep us up that will be amazing and will take us down one path, if he fails then it takes us down another and they have to have their ducks lined up in a row for both eventualities . We too players on long contracts, nothing wrong with that but if they’re out injured all the time or aren’t quite good enough then that has a massive impact on cost. We could start pre season with 11 first team squad members and depending on what league we are in will see how much we have for wages and signing new players so recruitment has to be spot on and for the last 3 windows it hasn’t been not for bringing in players who aren’t loans. But I’m not going to apologise for asking the questions why it has been so poor.
Some updates would t be a bad thing, saying nowt is like hiding away and being defensive. Maybe he thinks that if he says anything it might make it worse, I don’t know.
Anyway, I’m high temperature Covid infested rambling, may well be a bit down at the moment but whatever happens let’s hope we stay up and move forward as one.
What's he done to make you doubt him and his intentions?
We had a poor manager choice (but he obviouslythough it could work out), mixed summer but the intent is there, Brannagan was big money and agreed but Oxford offered silly wages, club can't expect that to happen.
We signed Wright for a rumoured 750k ish, didn't work out but can't fault the intent of the money man, it fell down due to selecting the target.
We've not found it easy to secure top players but which smaller club at this level does?
When you have our budget and wages it'll always be more difficult.
What has Sadler not delivered on?
Ups and downs, good and poor windows happen even with the best intentions at times.
The only unexpected thing was Covid, probably cost about 7m maybe... bit he didn't have to fund us as he did through it to gain the advantage, but he chose to.
We got promoted ahead of time really as a club, all the rest was completely predicable.
He's a man knows for doing in depth research in the industry hes in so I cant believe the football world came as a shock to him. He'll have surely known how much things cost and how difficult it can be as smaller club. Hence us sticking to a relatively small budget and having a model of selling and reinvesting to get players we couldn't afford before, we're at the start of that model. Also the TG and getting better youngsters, with the dev squad, again in its infancy.
He might sell up and leave, whoknows. Circumstances change. If he does sell, being a fan, I'm sure he wouldn't just offload to any random individual, he'd want the clubs future secured.
However he said only months ago and reiterated his unwavering commitment.
Until something isn't delivered I see no reason to distrust him.
