Come on Simon push the boat out

We've had the Coronavirus. The partygate. The Jubilee. And now Neil Critchleys departure. It's wall to wall news fest.

I'm reading Barton's autobiography at the moment .Decent read to be fair..I'll be willing to give anyone a chance 🍊

I'd take Barton.

It's not the personality that matters, it's what he does with the team that counts.

Not like we've had likable managers in the past is it? Megson, Allerdyce, McMoan to name a few.

Apparently Critchley was a lovely man. Look what happened

Wouldnt mind Barton at all ability wise . My only concern is his capacity to get into bother thereby jeopardising his employment

Barton is a poor / weak character in my view. He seems unable to keep his emotions in check and so seems prone to ultimately blowing up.

Doesn’t seem to be able to manage interpersonal relationships particularly well either and can’t see him fitting in with our squad at all.

I personally wouldn’t want to be associated with the Club if they employed him at all. I’d genuinely toss in my Season Ticket… He’s a wrong un in my book 👎

I said 'potential' wife beater. Phil was calling into question the possibility, by association with Joey Barton, that Critchley 'might give his missus a smack every now and then'. There is no reason to think he does, or would. So why even ask the question?

Dont think JB is the answer. I think he appeals to those who crave controversy. Must be better options out there. Given hes been a manager for a bit now he has done ok but not really exceeded expectations? Happy to be proven wrong of course

To be fair to JB, he did turn round a team that finished bottom last season and got them promoted at the first time of asking.
Fair point, think hes done a good job, albeit heavily abetted by the Scunthorpe youth team 🤣But does he excede expectations, thats what we need isnt it? Still think there must be better options

Barton is a jumped up little two bit wife beating prick who picks fights with easy targets and who's own team mate called him a coward after he attacked him from behind and put him out for the rest of the season. I wouldn't have him anywhere near the club thanks, Fleetwood was too near.

It would be an absolute disaster like it always is with him, he's been trouble and fallen out with players everywhere he's employed, even Pilley had to get rid because he was too much of a nuisance, imagine if he started getting all little big man on Madine or Keogh, they'd have to use dental records to identify the body afterwards...

Do big Gaz or Crazy Uncle Rick smoke cigars?🤣

I’d sooner see Joey Barton appointed than some of the names mentioned already this evening.

Gary Bowyer
Charlie Adam
Tony Mowbray
Ian Holloway

Jesus H Christ come on people. 🙄

I reckon Charlie could be a brilliant manager given the chance. Why not? He's also someone who played the game the way most of us would like to watch it.

The rest of your list is spot on. Not sure how you could rule Charlie out given he's technically still an active football player.

Wouldn't mind Barton,
He could give the players a slap if they' aren't trying hard enough 👊
If you want a proper hard man (and God knows why) then Duncan Ferguson is your man. Accept no substitute. He makes Barton look like Andy Pandy.

Having said that, although he has plenty of previous offences as a player, DF has not used that aspect in his coaching career to my knowledge. But it would take a lot to prise him from Everton.

I think he’s still some time off being a manager Mac.
I’am not aware he’s done his coaching badges or anything has he?
Might be one for the future but not just yet for me.

Barton for me as well
He’d be a nailed on favourite if it was just for his managerial capabilities, so much better than all the other names mentioned, unfortunately it’s the other stuff that will probably mean we won’t have him, having seen what he’s done with very average squads he could work wonders with a bit of money to spend & a very good team already in place
He could become a Billy Ayre type character in time with his passion & football knowledge, it won’t happen unfortunately, sad to see critchley go but a polar opposite would definitely ramp things up
