He had an encyclopaedic knowledge of music, to my 15 year old brain. And a backroom collection to match.
I once went in, after watching ‘Some Kind of Wonderful’.
The end credits rolled to a band called ‘Lick the Tins’. I went in and asked if he’d heard of them, he said give me a minute, disappeared back room (in the days when he knew no one would rob him blind), came back 10 minutes later, literally blowing dust off a 12” single muttering “I thought I had something “ !

My mum used to do a couple of evening shifts there in the early 70’s. I remember going with my dad to drop her off when I was a toddler. They made kitchenwear, a lot of it is now vintage stuff and collectable. She got a lovely egg slicer as a bonus one year. I got a better tune out of that than TC ever could !
