As a Stockport resident since 1977….WTF is your point……this is a town that thoroughly deserves a Football League Club, and one which had one for a very long time.If the owner,a Stockfordian by the way, like Simon is a Seasider,has put money into the club then is that a problem as it seems like you think so.
BFC is and has always been my team but I very happy for the town and it’s supporters as it is a great boost for the place.

Because “Bend its” comment re City was not called for and he should know it.

This town football wise lives next door to two of the biggest football clubs not just in the country but these days even the world.The fact many locals have kept faith with the club and they have believe me it is a great day for them after what the club has been through.

Of course should we meet them in a competitive fixture then obviously I would want us to beat them😀

Allez….that is a ridiculous comment…their rivals are far more traditional and I doubt AFC would even come close to be in any hate list.
For the record, rather like our historical enemy Horwich, Burnley would top the list for the older generation Stockfordians.

BLEACH ,chill and enjoy have a beer,(everyone is entitled to an opinion)as i said well done,i remember some great games with county a proper league football club,we just need bury back now,my favourite moment was when andy preece scored against them at bloomfield road ,some fat bird in front of me in the old south stand ,shouted out come on county when they scored late on ,and i enjoyed telling her its never over untill the fat lady sings ,then no sooner i said it preecy scored the winner, and i said but its all over now 🤣,dont think she was very happy,great times dispite the scum ownership hello from sunny Spain.

When they were in the National League together and KFC had more money they hated em. Fact.

Nor factually correct for that matter…to even compare City with Stockport in terms of ownership,spending or whatever else is just ridiculous…anyway whilst I am delighted for what is now very much my home town and even the original home town of both my parents, my birth and the town( ok we moved to St.Annes when I was 12)I grew up in still takes precedence over it and anywhere else for that matter when it comes to football.

Glad you got to follow up the link.expected a bit more from Halifax but Stockport we’re just to good for them.
Now it’s up to Wrexham to follow suit but as we all know nothing is for certain….who knows it could end up being the team who have been on what you could only describe as relegation form…The Spirerites.

In terms of the National League, it’s a pretty good analogy regarding spending which was my original point you will find. However I am genuinely happy for you, and I can appreciate how Stockport residents applauded Chesterfield fans coming home from the 3-3 draw in the FA Cup semi in the 90’s….so well done. I’m hoping my home town now gets through the PO’s, but I don’t think it will happen.

As for belittling their achievement...mmmm......where did I say that. I have said congratulations and well done, not really belittling them is it? I insinuated that they have spent a considerable amount of money in relation to the league they play in.

Anybody who tries to twist that fact is plain stupid, because it happened. Im not saying its right or wrong, just that it happened. its irrefutable and doesn't distract from the fact that Stockport have been promoted.

well done to Stockport. Always pleased when a former league team and a ground I've been to returns. Allez is rightt though. There was a lot of animosity between the fans of both teams when they were playing each other a while back.

Im really not bothered if I impress you or not and I really cant be bothered debating the issue over why someone could live in a house in a town for years and not feel at home.

Why make the Man City comparison if you are not trying to belittle Stockport's achievement?

Many others have already pointed out to you that there is no comparison here at all apart from the fact someone is investing money in each club.

Do we need to compare and contrast the ownership of City with Stockport's? Really!

I have chatted with you face to face, even visited your house, in person you seem an amenable guy but on this board, I'm afraid you (like many others) take on a caricature and insult people in a way you would never to their face ( I'm far from immature) and hence why I feel your response to my comment was only worthy of laughing off!

….and the Mersey itself only starts about a mile from the ground…ok maybe a mile and a half😉where the Rivers Goyt and Tame meet .

The River actually runs under the Merseyway Shopping Centre and there plans to open up the area so that it isn’t covered any more which I am all for.Sadly the centre of Stockport around Merseyway is in need of severe redevelopment.

This is where the River disappears under the shopping centre😳well from a different angle😉

oh and apparently Warrington Towns ground is 50 metres nearer…850 as compared to 900…but then Warrington isn’t in the Foorball League😃EFL that is.

lol - I know he ended up at Stockport but I believe that summer he applied for/enquired about positions at another 13 clubs.

I can't blame Megson really, he was on £50k with us and Stockport agreed to give him £75k and we ended up getting compo.

I know that there had been trouble involving some so called Stockport fans with AFC when they have played each other and that is probably a dozen times at most and mostly in the National League North.
Every club have so called fans the vast majority don’t want to be associated with and Stockport is no different but living in the town for the length of time I have I can categorically tell you Fylde wouldn’t get a mention as being (bitter) rivals other than I suspect a few spotty teens and even they would probably put Macclesfield,Alty,Wrexham and Chesterfield well ahead of AFC
 
I remember a Tues night game and Ellis equalised in last few minutes was a great turn out by us and then drove straight back to blackpool then out to brannigans for some beers ! Great times
 
Stockport was always classed as a decent sized club in my era of growing up so good to see them back

Our Seasider daughter lives in Reddish and we all keep one eye on the Stocky results. A big well done to them and we hope they work their way up to play against us or maybe we can play them in a pre-season friendly this year?

Warington Town is 50 meters from the Manchester ship canal; I've played there, and if the ball is lumped into the canal by a big centre half, a new ball is needed & you'll never see the old one again!

Having conversations with people face to face has certainly never been one of my failings, but have to resort to such as its a Football Forum not a Zoom meeting.
