that spell at QPR worries me about him coming back more than the he left us / Judas stuff???

anyone know what actually happened??? disaster seems to be an understatment ... was it all down to him ??? they were slding and shitty before him and after and seemed to be in proper free fall...

maybe that really bad expereince has taught him a few things???

Some Rs fans say he got shafted with no transfers. Others said his ideas were there to see but didn't come off (maybe similar to the 1st 10 games with us). I imagine there will be plenty of people also saying he's crap and clueless....we saw how crap they were at our place!

Interesting he talks about vision and alignment to a strategy regarding working with SS again. I wonder if that's a dig at QPR?

If Burnley were not on the beach they would have gone down.

No one was going to win a game for them unless someone surrendered and Burnley did just that.
I know the stats for that game but they made too many changes and gifted QPR some hope.

sounds like they were on a crest of a slump before he got there… was only able to bring in one player, 34-year-old Chris Martin on a free

One specific criticism was that he persisted with a 4-4-2 when the squad was built for a 4-3-3

As others said, the struggles continued under Ainsworth

A QPR fan told me that they simply didnt have enough quality Ainswoth has won 3 from 13

A lot of their fans were a bit “lost” by his selections and set ups early doors. They then had that cup exit against the Cods and he came out blaming their players for training badly and complacently before the game and made the same points in the dressing room at half time getting zero response and an even worse performance. So at that point he likely lost the players completely and results nosedived and fans became more vocal about his management. I think it boils down to he expected more from the supposed quality players and didn’t get it and couldn’t extract it either whatever he did.

I was much more concerned when referencing McCarthys spell at Cardiff as he arrived to us.

I’ll give Critchley the benefit of the doubt here. QPR- The wrong club at the wrong time.

The R’s were clearly already a poisoned chalice in the championship this season and were lucky to stay up.

They was on the slide big time before Critch took the job.think before Beale left for Rangers his last five games resulted in one goal scored,a 0-0 draw and four defeats.they was top of the league at one point and 7th when he left.

I believe Critchley did get some results early doors but then things went rapidly south. So he got a bit of a bounce out of them initially.

You only have to look at the QPR non-performance at Bloomfield Rd to see what the problem was......the players attitude. They had already downed tools and once that happens it is difficult to get it back. Even the forceful personality of Gareth Ainsworth struggled to turn it around. The last 12 months have probably opened Critchley's eyes in terms of man-management and hopefully he becomes a better head coach as a result.

This QPR guy nailed it :

He knows the club and the reason hes coming back is because he knows the club, and that can only be a good thing cos he knows the club, and theres not many people that know the club better than him becuse he knows the club and cozs he knows the club it can only be a good fit.

I am more than happy he is back, I still think he left for 2 reasons, one a lot more money and also because he thought he was going to be left up shit creek because of the budge for last season. I still think he should of stayed and that his football was insipid in the Championship but he only had what he had player wise, I hope he has made sure Sadler is going to support him this season and also in the Championship, because I think he will be expected to get us back up this season.

If we are totally honest with ourselves how many would not have taken the opportunity to go to a Premiership Club (albeit as an assistant manager).
He had the chance to test his skills against some of the best coaches in football even though it didn’t work out for him.
Any job in football can be short lived so who can blame anyone for wanting to better themselves?
People expressed their disappointment at the fact he up and went without even a departing message to the supporters but again (being honest with ourselves) if he had left a message then he would still have got slagged off buy quite a few on here for walking out. A bit like Olly really.
The days of loyalty in football have long gone; those involved are only in it for the money so people should accept that and welcome Critch back in the hope he can reproduce what he did first time around.

It's hard to believe now with the benefit of hindsight, but Gerrard's stock was really high at the time. So it would have looked a really good opportunity, not just Villa but further opportunities.

In the interview it was interesting what he said about targets being lined up before he left. All that preparation must have gone up in smoke when Appleton came, despite the club saying it didn't. The profile of player may have been the same (age, development opportunity etc.), but switching to a 433 must have resulted in completely different players being required...

The budge? What's that?!!!

And. Insipid? It was formulaic, but I wouldn't say it was insipid. We battled manfully in the vast majority of games, once we got over the battering against Cardiff early doors and realised we were going to get bullied into oblivion if we didn't front it up.

Maybe he meant budgie. They say Simon ran out of birdseed and had to let it fly.
