Critch on shortlist

Every manager appointment is a gamble and most end in failure (look at ManU after Ferguson). You can go for a rookie (we did that - Alan Ball). Or a glamorous foreigner (Riga). Or an experienced old-hand (MacCarthy). All failed disastrously. There is no magic formula. We could bring in the most promising manager possible and it might not work (Critchley was lucky to survive his opening spell). For my money the most important thing is to get someone in soon - this is our most important summer for years so we can’t be hanging around. That’s why I say give it Dobbie now. He’s an intelligent coach, he has loads of contacts in the game (there must be some young Scottish players we can get), the players seem to like and respect him, the fans love him and he loves our club. Yes we can go for the Barrow boss or the ManU u-21 coach or some Argentinian we’ve never heard of - but why not appoint the man we have right now irrespective of how the season ends. We need a manager who gets our club - and Dobbie certainly does.

Critchley for me has shown that he doesn't have the long term strategic vision that is needed, I think almost anyone could see that going to villa wouldn't last beyond a few months, you could say that he took a risk for a sizable increase in pay, but that risk for money, might undermine his whole career.
Even if we got him back, and from the evidence he is a very good coach, the likelihood is that money comes calling again if he's showing signs of success.
That is the norm of football, and this is why the exec management needs to come at the coaching issue with a different attitude

Still think Paul Simpson. Just look at Carlisle and their current situation. They have been in the automatic promotion places but have now dropped into the playoffs in time for the end of the season. There’s a man who knows what Blackpool are all about 🤣

I personally would accept him or anyone, but I don't think it's right and to keep going back shows a lack of belief in finding someone new.

The fact is he's lost trust from many, yes he could get it back but it'll likely never be the same feeling as before.

It could be spun a certain way, apologise etc, but for me we need someone new or Dobbie if he does well.

I think it will be Critchley unless Dobbie somehow performs a miracle...if it is Critchley he needs an experienced head beside him thats for sure

Yes I agree let's bring him in. Look about your spelling of CHEERING I can only deduce that you are as thick as the peasant who spawned you after 12 pints of scrumpy!😜
You're wrong Trammo spelling cheering as cheerin is incorrect. However add an apostrophe at the end and it is grammatically correct. I'm hoping a nice carvery Sunday lunch will cheer me up.

This will have been leaked by the club to gauge fan opinion I suspect. Whilst it doesn’t seem to be Appleton levels of discontent it certainly isn’t impressing a lot of fans.
The problem with listening to a lot of fans is if they do that we end up with Dobbie, Adam and Thompson or possibly Wellens who is a bit of mixed bag managerially.
Of course all appointments are a gamble but on paper I’d say Crichley may be the best option.

It wouldn't surprise me if he did come back, but it surely would need to be under our terms ie a perm No 2 is appointed (not a mate who needs work for a few weeks until something better comes along) and the contract is loaded in the Clubs favour.

Another reason why it's possible is so the Club can stick 2 fingers up to the fans and say 'we'll appoint who we want, not who you don't want' and hope the appointment vindicates them. I'm sure stranger reasons have happened.

Well that’s exactly what you don’t do. You don’t employ his and then dictate terms to him. You either trust him or you don’t.

Nathan Jones came back to Luton and was better second time round so why not the Critch. Yes he made a mistake not issuing a statement when he left but he’s a genuine nice guy, always had time for people. I for one would welcome him back

Uh so you can afford to eat out eh? LUXURY!😜

A big NO to Critchley - he doesn't deserve to be our manager.
If he was appointed, it would split the fan base & that's the last thing we need next season. One or two bad results & the atmosphere would be similar to that under Appleton & MMc.
The cracks were showing at the end of last season & Critchley left showing no respect to SS, the club or the fanbase & knowing where that would leave us.
Our demise this season started when Critchley left without notice, leaving us in the lurch.
It didn't work for him at Villa or QPR, so why should we now throw him a lifeline?

If the🐍comes back it'll show how unprepared and how little the board care about what is and has been proven this season, an integral part of the football club🤦🏻‍♂️

I don’t think Critchley would get the job , on a trust basis , they stuck their necks out before , to appoint him in the first place , gave him a good contract after promotion and then he shit on them . Would they trust him not to jump ship next time Stevie G comes calling , I don’t think so .
