Critchley post match

All the usual stuff up on Tangerine TV now

I usually agree with his post match interviews but tonight... nah. We were shite tonight and it needs a change ie in formation to sort this out not tweaking. You can have a possession based style playing 4231 or 442. It doesn't need to be 3 at the back when it so obviously doesn't work.

For me it's that he doesn't even seem angry tonight. People on here talk about "effort" and "commitment" and "passion", but the word I'd use is "character". We have none of it in that dressing room, least of all from the manager. If we did, tonight would not have gone the way it did following Boxing Day. But the guy insults us with "keep believing in what we're doing".

Honestly, please someone bookmark this thread and throw it in my face at the end of the season! I really, really hope I'm wrong. But it feels like last season is starting to repeat itself in some ways - we can't let the rot set in like it did then.

The real worry for me is that we're becoming increasingly easy to score against and finding it more and more difficult to create chances. There is also the distinct possibility that we are going to lose two of our best players, Dougall and Ekpiteta in the transfer window. Add to that the Rhodes situation and the Beesley injury and it's not looking good.

The Kenny Dougall, big Marv situation is symptomatic of something going really wrong behind the scenes. They were the pillars of our Lg1 promotion team and their abilities were well known to Critchley yet within 4 months they have become outcasts. It calls into question his man-management skills and inability to spot what is going wrong and how to put it right.

As Critchley says

"It’s a really tough night for us. Up until their goal I thought we were in control of the game. We had some good opportunities but didn’t take them, and with their first chance they scored. It was unlike us, we were left wide open on the break, so it’s something we need to look at.

😂🤣😂🤣😂
TBF they looked at it, as their guy raced through unchallenged.

“It was unlike us, we were left wide open on the break….” FFS I’ve lost count of the number times that’s happened this season. What is he watching?

We're nearly there.
Are we Neil?
We've just conceded 6 goals in our last 3 away games against arguably 3 of the shittest sides in the division.

We've got to stick to our principles!!
What? The ones where there's no direction, effort or quality on the pitch?

The support has turned up in numbers and we've not given them anything to shout about.
That'll probably be because of your first two comments.

I'm more pissed off now than I was 10 hours ago.
The bell end doesn't think he's doing anything wrong 🤬🤦

Surely he has a performance clause in his contract, so if he fails past an agreed point, he could be sacked without compensation?
Ps, I think he's doing ok, (ish) would we rather be in Carlisles position?

"I think the third goal was even offside."

So just the two legitimate goals handed to a side that doesn't win at home. With none in reply, again.

It's actually quite sad.
All three goals had one common denominator. No.attempt at a challenge until they were close to goal. Weak as piss defensively.

Meanwhile, every time Dembele threatened to get going, he was tripped near the half way line, allowing them the time to regroup and pack the defence.

We simply can't cope when teams put two banks of 5 in front of us. Last night, it was all us, then one breakaway and we were stuffed.

Weak physically and mentally.

We need someone to strengthen us up. Critchley is too poncy

I think he believes we could play like Liverpool ,swap our back 3 for TAA,Van Dyke,Robertson, and we may have a chance.Send him back there.

How about TTV getting an independent interviewer in so that when Critchley starts rabbiting on, the interviewer, instead of asking weak, predictable questions, can say.
But it isn't working Neil, what are you going to do about it?

This is a massive issue for me. There’s nobody to ever ask the difficult questions or the questions that every fan wants answers to. It was the same last season when Appleton was picking bizarre lineups and it’s been the same all this season. Nobody to ask why Connolly was being played at left wing back at the start of the season, or why CJ has been converted to a right wing back, why Dougall is out, why he persists with these tactics when it clearly isn’t working away from home etc etc. We’re drip fed carefully staged interviews from tangerine tv and there’s absolutely nothing from the gazette. Do some people actually pay for tangerine tv? You must be an idiot to do so

Critchley's pathetic excuses for away defeats expose his fantasy mindset.

The best coaches admit their aberrations when selections and tactics disintegrate.

His meek fatalism underlines why he cannot motivate players for improvement.

It’s £1.99 a month.

Totally agree, but it's an in house club run website/media outlet, no one is ever going to ask the hard questions, like, why are we shite away from home Neil?

This is where you need strong local football coverage from the local press, and what do we have? Some lad who used to cover Wigan rugby and is more tuned in to putting quizzes "On his Insta" than actually asking any difficult questions.
Come back Scrafton, all is forgiven 🤣🤣🤣

Or the Chizzy style

1. “Well Neil, a disappointing 3-0 defeat but the team showed lots of fight and created chances”….long pause….followed by Critchley saying yes and we controlled the game for long periods/individual mistakes cost us/their first second and third were offside etc etc.

2. “So onto the next game then home/away at *whoever*….. reasons to be positive?” Followed by Neil telling us who is back on the grass and the injury problems but we can go into it with confidence

Every time… completely off the hook.
