Critchley signs a 5 year extension to his contract last year. Presumably under no duress to do so. In his view, a better offer comes along less than 12 months later and he beggars off! Okay, we then receive compensation from Aston Villa, but he walks away from a legal contract scott free!
This doesn't seem right to me. He has breached his contract!
The same situation applies for all managers and players. I am no great expert on contract law, but it seems to me to be fairer that if someone breaks their legal agreements, they should be held personally responsible and be penalised financially.
