So we thought we'd try and keep a bit of BFC going on AVFTT and so we'll start for the next couple of weeks with 'Your First'

So let's kick off with who was your first Blackpool FC Keeper?

Nice Shout. Steve McIlhargey. I thought we was the best keeper ever watching him from the South (am sure he was actually a bit hopeless but to a young lad he just filled the goal). Still have a photo of me and him and you can see I'm idolising him!!

Alan Taylor for me as well. I played with him at Layton Institute when he came temporarily out of retirement in the early 80's. He still knew how to command the penalty area

Tony Waiters will be the first Pool keeper for me, but recollections from my early youth are hazy (last week's a bit of a blur tbh!) with regard to him, the first one that really "belonged" to me was Budgie, but my personal BFC Favourite was Georgie Wood -
but my hero was and will always be Gordon Banks. Sorry, but always been a Goalkeeping fan.

There were others I watched but my first Keeper 'crush' (so to speak!) was Steve Banks - utterly adored him as a keeper!

Tony Waiters for my first match but I don't remember him play. My second match had Kevin Thomas in goal - we lost 4-0 to Millwall.
After that, my first regular keeper was Alan Taylor.
I saw Kevin Thomas play several more games in 1967/68 and I rated him.

I would have seen West and Waiters play [especially Waiters] but I can't recall anything specific about them even though I recall a lot of the later matches Waiters played.
Maybe that's just the way it was with keepers.

George Farm.
Over 500 appearances from the late 40's onwards up to 1960.
He must have missed the odd game but I haven't a clue who our reserve keeper was then.
One of his claims to fame was scoring a goal against PNE in a home match which we lost 2-6.
He'd damaged his shoulder early in the game and played up front.
I think Jimmy Armfield covered for him in goal.

It would have been Alan Taylor I think, bloody long time ago.
I remember when we signed Budgie from Workington Town, was playing football in Stanley Park on a Sunday afternoon with mates when this guy turned up and asked if he could have a kick about with us, we couldn't score past him, next home game there he was between the sticks, gobsmacked.

Tony Waiters for me (aged 63). He was a huge keeper and the team always looked confident with him behind them. Remember Budgie (met him many times and he really is a workaholic) and his crazy antics.

Hall was our central league (reserve team) keeper at the time of the cup final in 51,, saw him play in the first team week before the final at Bloomfield road.

John Burridge, Budgie, the coach/Manager of Symbol Biscuits footy team.

First one I remember is Budgie but started going to the odd game before that but can't remember most of the players.
