Daily bugbear

You'd love the American road systems, illegal to cross the road without waiting for the "walk" sign, but the walk sign doesn't effect the flow of traffic one bit, you can still go, even if you plow into the pedestrian and kill them you can just say "they should have been wearing bright colors" and get a slap on the wrist. 180 pedestrian deaths in my town this year.

Though me experiencing this now may be karma for pushing the one outside the teanlowe in Poulton every day as we walked by and laughing as a teen.

What gets my goat is zebra crossings. Why can't the ignorant baswerds say thank you when you stop.

And why do people cross the road like 5m from a zebra?
Bug bear is the other way. Why do drivers assume they should be thanked for following the rules of the road. Do the same drivers when going down a main road, wave and thank all cars who have stopped at a junction? Of course you don’t, it’s the road rules

Long time back, maybe not still true, but lived in Germany when if a pedestrian got hit away from a crossing zone it was their fault no matter what. Should be the rule here, put responsibility onto the person most likely to be hurt. It’s what any sensible person would think anyway.

Rather than put the responsibility on the person who can cause the greater hurt? You should acquaint yourself with the new edition of the Highway Code.

I’m aware of the new Highway Code regs, I just don’t agree with them.
The intent might be laudable but, purely from a personal safety aspect, it’s safer to put responsibility on the people more likely to come off worse in an accident.
If, as a pedestrian, I only cross a road when there’s no vehicles coming then I can’t be hit.
If I see a vehicle coming, but cross because I know I’ve got right of way, then there’s a chance the driver might not stop or see me.

The new regs introduce the gamble that the driver is going to do the right thing. It’s no use being in the right whilst being surrounded by para-medics.

When I start to stop at a zebra crossing, I usually wave to the pedestrian, as it gets them moving quicker once they’re confident you’re stopping.
9 times out of 10 they wave a thank you.
I sometimes wave at cyclists but seem to get a different response.... perhaps it’s the way I wave😉🖕

With regards the new Highway Code...Pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders are protected by the new rules, rightly so to a degree but is there any rules regarding fcuking earphones etc!!!!. Rule 1 stop look and fcuking LISTEN!!!!!

Blacked out rear windows in cars…what’s it all about…🤣…are your kids really that ugly? Makes me laugh more than a bug bear tbh..funny when you see them in an old mondeo or Picasso..😁

1) When I’m standing at a pedestrian crossing, having pressed the button, waiting for the lights to change & some tw*t comes up & presses the button again, like a) it’s going to make the lights change sooner or b) they assume I don’t know how a f*cking pedestrian crossing works.

2) Idiots who stand on buses wearing rucksacks/backpacks & then repeatedly turn to engage in animated conversations with their mates, thus repeatedly smacking some poor sod ie me in the face with aforementioned rucksack/backpack.

PDX, not relevant this, just reminded me of a chuckle I had when we went to New York. We'd only been there an hour, left the hotel for our first walk out.
At our first corner, on 3/53, it was busy cars and people everywhere. I think I'm describing this right - in the furthest right lane they could either go straight on with all the other ones from the middle, or turn right. Bloke intended to turn right into 52nd but wasn't getting anywhere due to amount cars already there and people crossing the junction, so he got left in limbo at the lights. The Dibble was behind him and wanted to go straight on but couldn't because it was so busy to his left he couldn't pull out.
The bloke tried to inch forward into 52nd, to create some space for the copper to go past him, but could only move it a few inches.
Dozens of people are watching this poor sod panicking, then the piece de resistance - the copper turns on his loudhailer and says "you'll have to do better than that buddy".
Only in America.

Twice recently I have been halfway across Zebra crossings when cars haven’t stopped both resulting in near misses. On both occasions cars to the right of me had stopped to let me cross. Half way over on one occasion a car from the left went straight on at speed oblivious I was there and on the other occasion a car had to brake sharply to avoid hitting me.

Don't be silly, you must have imagined it, car drivers do no wrong! 😂

Any selfish arrogant thick numpty that uses Norcross roundabout and uses the wrong lane
Agree with you there Block J.
They just must get in the outer lane, whether it's the correct one or not.
It's the 'I must get away 1st' syndrome. I'll be going sown there tomorrow, bet it happens again.😨

Don't get me started on that. I am certain that a large % of users of that roundabout just go in any lane they please. Everytime I use it there is a bun fight of horns beeping and fists being waved.

Selfish Arseholes that have no respect or empathy for people struggling with disabilities or young children.

Ignore him. He's just on the wind up. I'm sure he parks exactly where he's told to. It will annoy him thinking of this thread when he next parks in a normal space. He'll know I was right. There's a good lad.
