Dale

@SwannDangerous - always have the facts before making statements like the o/p

Deadline day signing Owen Dale is edging closer to making his debut having almost recovered from his foot injury.
“We had a behind closed doors game last week against Burnley and Owen got 45 minutes in that game, which was really pleasing,” Pool’s head coach said.

I don t know very much about Dale, but I see Sonny Carey playing in the same role
that Charlie Adam did Carey is a good finisher and will score a few goals when we
reach the Premiership.

I expect it is pleasing when you've been paying a player for 6 weeks after signing and he's yet to kick a ball in anger!

I hear Carey isn't very happy, having scored goals and put in man-of-the-match performances every time he's had the chance, he's not even getting in the matchday squad.

Problem we have with Carey is that when you play a 4 4 2 that sometimes resembles a 4 2 4, can you have him as one of the midfield 2 or do you need a pair that is less creative and more combative?

I think you will find that this behind closed doors match happened after I created the original thread.

I am very sorry I haven't yet learnt read the future.

Also - I'm glad he's ALMOST recovered, we're only 11 games in! Get in my son! Worth every penny!

True, maybe we could factor him in a more attacking midfield road at the expense of one of our strikers?

But that would mean that we cant use our favourite tactic of lump it up to big gaz!

I'd rather start with a midfield 5 and use Madine later in games, would have Carey or Anderson playing behind Lavery or Yates but it would remove the up and under option we sometimes use when Madine plays.

But we signed him on deadline day, after 5 of those games. You can't read the past either!

We were buying him, the medical showed a problem with his foot so a deal was struck with Crewe to make it a loan so they could assess his fitness.

That doesn't change the fact that we are 11 games in and he is yet to even be in contention with the first team squad, now does it?
We signed Ballard and Dougall in October last season. Absolutely disgraceful that they missed the games before that! And Dougall only played 2 league games in is first 6 weeks at the club!Ballard only played 24 league games all season. What about the other 22?!!

I said we're 11 games in and he's yet to be anywhere near the first team? Which he isn't...

It’s a good deal if we haven’t paid too much up front. Critchley rates him and we get him on a try before you buy option.

And neither were some of our key players who helped us to promotion last season, after 11 games. Ridiculous point of view I'm afraid.

Fuck it then, why don't we sign more injured players, pay them a nice wage to rehabilitate and just hope they'll come good?

We'd have been better off signing Simms if we're in the business of signing injured players! At least he's fit now, and proven to perform well at our club!

He's on loan. How much are we paying of his wages? I assume you know. We discovered he was injured at his medical just before the transfer deadline. We really wanted him so we did a deal. If he comes good it will have been a good decision. Made by intelligent people. If he doesn't come good, he goes back to Crewe. Like other loans that didn't work out. It's not fuckin rocket science.

I am aware of what we are attempting to do, cheers.

So, in what way am I wrong in saying he's done fuck all SO FAR, please?

Ps. I'm not sure what we're paying him in wages, but I'm damn sure that, AT THE MOMENT, it's a great big bloody waste.

It’s hardly prediction of the century that a player signing who is out for a few weeks hasn’t done much in the first few weeks.

We have been crying out for a creative midfielder since January. We now have one who, as has been said, can’t even make the match day squad, why? Give the lad a chance, never mind he’s only 20, if they are good enough they’re old enough. How old was Bally at the world cup? 19.

He'd definitely be in my match day squad but time is on his side.

There must be something about the lad that Critchley sees some potential in and so let's wait until we see him kick a ball before questioning the decision.

Did he really think he was going to walk into a Championship starting XI from NL South?

Ekpiteta missed more than 11 games last season. What a waste of money, by your logic. You don't sign players so they perform instantly necessarily. He's a long term signing. Judge him after that period as to whether hes added value.

How often do you hear of a team signing an injured player? Not very.

How often to players fail medicals and the transfer fails? Fairly often.

It's just a risky business signing injured players.

Well we have a very smart owner who knows all about risk, and a very smart coach who knows all about footballers, and they bother decided to go ahead. I'm happy to trust their judgement, personally. Even if you're not. And they mitigated the risk significantly by changing from a full contract to a loan period. They decided a short term loan was a risk worth taking, for a player that Critch knows well.

All I'm saying is I hope he comes good, because at the moment he's done shit all.

Yeah. That's cos he's been injured. 👍

Any other injured players you recommend us wasting our money on? I'm surprised you're happy with a squad of fit players, when they could all be injured with a hope of one day being able to play a game behind closed doors.👍

Our money? How many millions have you put in? 🤠

Jesus some of you lot could have an argument in a phone box & I'd guess most of you are old enough to remember what they are. If this lad proves to be decent there'll be more with egg on their chins AGAIN. How many more times are players, managers going to be slaughtered before being given an opportunity to actually prove themselves. 🙄

Already said at the moment, and so far, so you can read further into that if you would like to, but that's up to you, and I've already said that I hope he comes good...

What point? And what is the point of this thread? Really?
I'm not sure but it seems to have got you gripped?

The point was you referred to me saying "our" in terms of the club as I support as being a negative. Probably just so you could attempt to have the last word. Totally off topic, and diverting from the simple question I asked.
