Danes ran out of Steam

For a large part of the first half the Danes were dominant, we were not competing and back to normal , not closing down and harassing their play makers ! Luckily they ran out of energy , Italy won’t , It’s going to be epic on sunday . Come on England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

I didn't watch Denmark's quarter final game but I heard they looked tired the last half hour. It was remarkabe last night how exhausted they were, they practically gave up the last few minutes. There was a place in the final at stake, we were passing it around and they weren't even closing down. They just let us keep the ball. Completely out on their feet.

Gareth has played a blinder here keeping the squad rotated, despite heavy criticism. That being said, we're lucky Kane has grown into the tournament after looking off the pace early on. Sterling was still sprinting around in the 119th minute last night. They've played more minutes than nearly anyone else in the tournament. They took a lot of lessons from that Croatia game in 2018 I think, when we struggled later and started labouring on the pitch. One more game to go but that hasn't been a problem so far.

good summary. Rice and Phillips couldn't contain their midfield and they were going thru way too easily and were also winning pretty much every second ball. Need to be better on sunday. Two young players still learning though but at the moment there's a lot to improve on.

Remember they only had ten players on the pitch for the last fifteen minutes. It did make keeping possession much easier for us.

Don't agree about Phillips' impact on the game. I thought more often than not, he led the press that ultimately wore out the Danes and won us the game.

True, but I'm talking about when we had it trapped at the side or near the corner and they had four or five near us, they didn't press at all. I'm not criticising them for it, just saying they were absolutely knackered.

I thought Phillips was excellent last night. For at least 70 minutes the Danes were full in heavy metal mode and it took a lot of dealing with. We could still use the ball a bit better but if we can't trust ourselves now we never will. Foden was class too when he came on. Hardly a wasted ball.

talking more about the first half when they were more the dominant team and when they were attacking, not when the ball was in their half. Go and read the match thread, I was making the same point during the game.

Fair enough. The turning point of the game was their manager making 3 subs, bringing off their dangerous players and replacing them with Brentford midfielders.
