Diamond formation

Anyone think we should give it a go while we’re struggling for wingers? Think it would work well with garbutt/Mitchell as and Gabriel as the full backs who can get forward, kenny in cdm, robson/virtue/ward take your pick as the two centre midfielders and Kaikai in CAM behind Madine and Yates

It's a thought cos it's not like we're getting much joy wide so play players to their strengths.

I'm definitely for trying Sullay somewhere not on the left wing.

I dunno really, been over formations in my head loads and feel like we're probably a few players short however you mix it up but being bit narrower might make us play quicker. We often seem to literally have players too far apart for quick interchanges especially when it's the three up front.

We need a proper left winger.
All we have are players who can sort of play over that side of the pitch but not the degree we require, so they're sort of just shoe-horned in without then really knowing what they should be doing.
Maybe Mitchell is the answer, but as a left winger, not a left forward.

We need to do something to get more out of our full backs and wide midfielders, 21 goals scored says it isn't really working.
This system might suit Kaikai and allow us to get more players into the box when crosses come in.

I mentioned this idea on a thread a couple of weeks ago - without CJ we are weak in the wide areas so IMO makes sense to play a narrow midfield diamond and control the centre of the pitch.

Dougall at the base, Virtue and Ward either side, with Kaikai in the CAM role.

Also think it could be key to getting the best out of Kaikai, if you played him in the CAM role behind Yates and Madine. Most of his best performances for us have come when he is in the middle of the pitch and not out on the left.

Controversial I know. KK off Madine, Yates just behind both. Turton RM.

LHS, who knows . I've said Mitchel as a LW. Husband LB ONLY if Greta plays. Garbo otherwise.

RB, the nearest steward as opposed to Gabriel.

Bit of a mess really.

I'm sorry, but the times last season when Kakai was bursting through the middle he never released the ball and ultimately was crowded out.

For me - Kaikai was at his best at the start of last season when he was playing through the middle, roaming behind Gnando and the Fonz.
Agree. Was thinking about Kaikai earlier and thought that his home debut against Bristol Rovers was probably perhaps the best debut performance I'd ever seen.

Makes it all the more painful now. Guy was an instant hero for me who oozed class and looked a level above. Disappointing to say but i can’t remember many better performances from him.
