The three lions on our football shirts are actually French, derived from the French monarchy who ruled us for centuries after 1066. They didn't teach that in schools.
Have a look at your passport with the french motto on the front, it's also the motto of our monarchy.
Don't choke on your full English folks!

A bit naughty that.

Fun what a joy you must to be with no wonder you built a bar at your home so you can sit on your own boring yourself to death. 👍
It would appear that the bundle of joy that wrote the o/p is so far up himself that he has lost any sense of self awareness.

Keep wallowing in your own cesspit of misery Shandy, while the rest of us enjoy what is likely to be a great occasion tonight.

Can’t say I’m bothered to be honest Shandy.
It was the first bit of French I learnt though as my dad seemed to enjoy saying it quite a lot for some reason when I was a kid 🤔
Anyway, onwards and upwards 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
Just had a latte here, don’t suppose that’s very English either but I’ll live 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Ffs 🤦🏻‍♂️👎🏻 interestingly lots of our language is derived from others. Another stat that means absolutely fuck all today.

Not too sure where you are trying to go with this Shandy?
Like all of Europe we are a nation of our past that has taken several guises, languages and cultures over the millennium.
As we stand today, we are English and identify as such.

According to Wiki the lions came into French culture from earlier Viking or Saxon culture which both pre-date the Norman invasion (which, in any case is derived from the historic Norsemen/Vikings subverting French culture by settling in northern France, hence Normandy).

I'm pretty sure everyone is aware that European cultures have cross-pollinated over the last few thousand years. Otherwise, continental Europeans wouldn't have football would they?

Its history, not sure why it upsets people, its interesting.
The ruling classes and monarchy are obviously going to be the ones that have their logos and mottos on national institutions and documents.
Delve into the history a bit more and the North West of England has more in common with Wales and South West Scotland but we totally identify as English now.

Jesus! Lions are native to bloody Africa anyway and can’t say I’ve seen many running round in Europe in the wild.

Really we should have
Red Squirrel’s on our shirt
Jules Rimet still gleaming
Thirty years of..,hold on, hold on Jules Rimet? In’t ee French!….

The 100 year war is pretty much a French civil war plantagenet vs valois.

Funnily enough once the plantagenet got completely booted out of France , they decided they wanted to be English all along.

It's no coincidence that English toffs hold french culture as high culture even today. Though obviously reinforced with king louis and the versaille court being copied by every royal family in Europe.

Just a shame so many English people had to die for the cause of a plantagenet king.
