Disappointed in these mascot packages

It would seem that your opinion of the value of money differs significantly from the value that a struggling family would put upon it.
A struggling family wouldn't pay half of £125 when that could pay food for the week out of it.

So why do we have to bow to everyone who is skint all the time Blackpool has poverty but not everyone out of the 140k population is on their arses.

Sort poverty out by all means but a football club isn't a charity also the club do plenty in the community to help out the trust.

We look at things differently you and I. My preference is for the Club to be seen to be interacting with the local population; to understand where and how they are living and to be sensitive to those things. It's a different thing altogether in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea I will admit. However our Club needs to not only interact wiith its big supporters - plenty of away games, season tickets, mascot packages, drinks in the posh bars in the ground - but also with it's potential fan base in the more deprived areas.

As the o/p I take on board all the comments but my son would love to be a mascot but given the choice between that or getting him a new school uniform, shoes, trainers etc then he’ll just have to sit it out and disappoints me so many said ‘there are people who can afford it’ - is that the sort of club we want?

The community trust who I know someone who works for them is always promoting BFC and does plenty of good work around Blackpool with children and is backed 💯 by the club.

Season tickets of
£49 U18
£29 U11
Free U5

Kids open days and parties.

If we where the only club in a poor area to charge for mascot packages you might have a point but I've named two on here PNE £350 Cod's £110 and could easily check others.

One mascot 23 home games is hardly a big deal when so much is done already.

I appreciate your info about the good things that the Club does and yes, I am posting specifically about the mascot packages on this thread.

Get real. To some families £125 can buy clothes, food, heating and decent bedding. I really am disappointed by some of the replies on this thread.
Hospitality is full most weeks with people paying around £100. Have you seen how much it is to take a family of 4 to the Pleasure Beach?

I think it's a reasonable price in today's market.

If you're having to decide between eating and being a mascot, then you shouldn't even be looking at being a mascot.

No it's not the type of club I want. But this board is full of "I'm alright Jack" types and sycophants who think that by agreeing with every single decision the club makes gives them some sort of imaginary kudos. So it's not a true reflection of what people's opinions would be. Don't take it to heart pal.

The Pleasure Beach is - quite correctly - marketed at holidaymakers and trippers. The football club is marketed at residents. There's a world of difference

And if they're not "I'm alright Jack" types then they're certainly making a good fist of appearing to be on this thread.

I had both my kids a mascots last season, and both loved the experience.

If I had to be picky, the drop down a division should reflect the package cost as we paid £125 each for the two kids at last seasons Championship opening game ( with a 13,000 + crowd )

They shouldnt be spending money going to matches then if a little extra for mascot is needed for food. Get in the real world, open them eyes.

Not really. Are you saying if you're poor you can't go to the Pleasure Beach? You are saying that we should be giving mascot deals away. As I've said elsewhere, BST do that, so allow the club to cost it to suit the market.

I am not saying either of those things.

How arrogant can people get. How dare you think of going to a football match if you are poor. Blimey, I'm really uncovering g some stones on this thread.

Who's saying I'm alright Jack complete nonsense.
One pidley thing like being a bloody mascot for only 23 times a season and it's mock outrage yet buy one kid a full kit and their parents are getting slapped for £65 maybe we should give them all away for free because we have poor people in Blackpool.

Dont go and pay to watch a match if you are in that position. No doubt you will get aled up and have a smoke before putting food on the table and money in the gas/electric meter.

How many mascots can there be per game?

Is it possible to increase the number?

At Huddersfield they seemed to have loads of kids waving flags etc before the game.

If we increase the number they could decrease the price, making it more affordable and appealing.

The more kids take out the mascot packages the more likely they are to stick with us and be an even bigger fan for life, it's apparently very memorable and builds a real bond for them, so it's important to reach as many as possible.

BST give loads of mascot packages to underprivileged kids, and also by lottery to BST members kids and junior BST members.

These are paid for by the BST Sweepstake and a few generous fans.

Simply put - join your kids into BST and they have a real real chance of being a mascot for free - obviously not guaranteed 👍👍

Should be the end of this thread now. The OP has made his views known and clearly it hasn’t gone down well at all for very good reasons but at the end of the day it’s all down to individuals personal financial choices.

Whatever happened to a shitty carton of orange and getting crushed against the hoardings in the west paddock.

Kids are bloody spoilt these days, either that or my dad was a tightarse..... hmm?

Are you a BST member ?

A football club only attracts its customers for approximately 100 hours in a YEAR. (25 matches for say 4 hours per match). A club has to maximise its earning potential at every opportunity. There’s always counter arguments either way how best to do this but I think the mascot deal is reasonable given the costs of other activities.

Neither of my lads have been a mascot, however, I was at the ground with my eldest who was 5 at the time getting tickets for an upcoming match and Jack Chapman was in the ticket office.
He started talking to my lad about BFC whilst I was buying the tickets.
When I'd got them Jack turned to me and said, what a lovely lad, meet me at the players entrance at 2pm before the match.
We were there at the time stated and Jack took us both in to the changing room.
My lad got to meet the players and he still has two photos that I took of him with Steve Banks and Tony Ellis.

No goodie bag, no penalty shootout, no walk out on the pitch with the players.
But ask him of some of his best memories of BFC and that's right up there🧡👍🏻

I don’t think £125 is too bad these days really. A great experience for the youngsters will cost a tad more. It’s a business after all.

I believe Knobbers charge £250 for a similar experience, although they include a kit. So £125 for a kit is pricey on top of the experience.

Just don’t do what my little brother did when I bought him the experience many years ago!
Wore his shin pads on his thighs and ran out with the opposing team (Huddersfield) clapping the away fans 🤣🤣🤣

Nobbers charge £350.

The price is fine it's a privilege not an every day occasion

When I did it for my son the day cost me over a grand

So stop moaning

Ticket prices are a different kettle of fish though

When I did it for my Son , it cost me £250 , but to see the smile on his face when he ran out with Big John Murphy, it was worth every penny . He got a kit and there were extra tickets involved.

Because members children are also to be offered the opportunity and it’s their subs / BST lottery that fund the scheme
Are all BST lottery subscribers members? Isn't BST a community benefit organisation? Maybe half going to the community would be in keeping with this?

but you got match tickets and a kit then you dont evven get match tickets now
It’s still a great day and a lifetime memory for a young Seasider, Xmas or birthday present not like they have to pay it every game, it’s a one off event
