Disappointed in these mascot packages

Thought we were a better club than one that cashes in on kids. £125 is a lot of money to most parents and I wonder how many will go unsold during the season. Drop all the goodies, use three kids a game at £40 which gets you a ticket for them and an adult and they'd fly out. Bet we'll see very few kids on the pitch as mascots at these prices.

Junior supporters have the opportunity to once again walk out onto the pitch with the Seasiders as an official mascot for the upcoming matches against Burton Albion (5 August) Port Vale (15 August) and Leyton Orient (19 August).

On sale now either in-store or over the phone, packages are priced at £125 and include:

• Leading the team out as a mascot at Bloomfield Road
• Meet the players and get autographs
• Pre-match kick-about with Bloomfield Bear on the pitch
• Mascot photo and feature in the match day programme
• A Seasiders goodie bag on arrival, plus activities with meet and greet hosts
• Centre circle photo with match officials and team captains (emailed electronically)

The prices are competitive, so if we are "cashing in on kids", everyone else is too.

As for numbers, there are several at every game and I'm pretty sure that the scheme was over-subscribed last season.

All mascot packages sold out last season. Good value.

You obviously don’t live in the real world.

Been trying all day to get hold of someone in marketing as I would like my two kids as away mascots Vs Carlisle. They’ve neither returned my call nor emailed.

The ticket office staff can only sell the three home packages made available. And can only advise contacting marketing.
Talk about being led into a blind alley 😔

Back around the early 2000's you used to get a full kit, photo, and 4 tickets (I think) . From the above it's not clear if that includes any tickets. J

It was around the £100 mark.

I think £125 for the package is absolutely fine. I’m sure they also get a full kit too. What a lovely treat and surprise for a child’s birthday/ treat

That isn't true for all clubs. My brother's lad was a mascot a few years ago and we were playing QPR. He got chatting to the parents of the QPR mascot and they ran it on a free lottery for kids. Not only that but paid for their travel and hotel too.

My lad was a mascot probably around 1988. No charge back then but got beggar all other than the honour and memories of the day.

All I would add to this debate is to recognise that expensive mascot packages do not sit well in a poor area. It sends out signals that the owner knows the price of everything and the value of nothing. Now, I openly say that because I don't happen to believe it is the case. Even so, some positive PR would be welcome, such as having one mascot package per school term given free for good school attendance or improved school performance.

I remember being a mascot. They set us up taking penalty kicks in front of the barren waste that was the demolished south stand against two teenage lads in BFC tracksuits who actually tried to save our pens, I'm fairly certain looking back they were just programme sellers or something.

Wonder how much my old man paid for that?

How is it expensive?
The Nobbers charge £350 and you can hardly call Preston the hight of affluence.

Some people just like to ** moan.

That's not a bad idea, actually.

As you probably know, BST also give a quarter of the packages we buy to worthy causes, to help families who might not otherwise get the opportunity.

Dont forget Ryan P------ raised a bit of money last season and got a fair few packages sold

If you're in BST, you can put your child's name in a draw to be mascot. BST sponsor packages.

It will be the same people moaning who can afford excess alcohol intake and can have a dabble at avftt tipsters joke picks. If you can afford to take Sat off, go to the match and think 125 is too much, alter your lifestyle for a one off.

God you’re boring stop the bloody moaning. What do you expect the club to run on. Fresh Air? Give me strength, biggest load of wet wipes in the country, same as the kit whiners oh what if it tempts our Billy to have a bet, grow a pair.

We are a club that's run at a significant loss albeit less than most
The club have to at least try to balance the books as best they can or we have to accept that even with SS's significant investment that we aren't going to be best placed to compete
As Robbie has said BST sponsor mascot packages at every home game whilst Ryan Powell organised the same last year so those who can't afford have options they could look at

That’s exactly what my lad got back then but his match was cancelled and we ended up with Peterborough last game of the season with about 6 other kids! Barry Fry more than made up for his initial disappointment with a load of banter
