Do we think Critch is saving Owen Dale

Do we think Critch is saving Owen Dale for a start against Sheff Utd ?

Certainly think he deserves it

Wor Gaz will want to start there (as he played for both Sheff clubs and has, to say the least some 'history') but I reckon he'll go 4231

It's therefore between Carey and Dale.

Carey and Dale could both play in the 3? I would think Dale is looking at either left or right of the 3, Carey in the middle. Will Critch start then both at Bramhall Lane? Premier League last season. Anybody's guess.

Not saving anybody, people shouldn't go overboard from a cameo, the same people that do that say he is shite when he then has a bad game.

Dales going to need a softly softly approach due to the injury and lack of game time (or proper pre season). He’ll be built up slowly. Critch is the master of this. He was the one developing kids and bringing injured Liverpool superstars back from injuries with their U23 squad. That rehab role is often overlooked when people consider U23 team football.

I see Critch as a bit of Alex Ferguson's type manager.

He was always very good at knowing when to play young players, when to rest them etc, when to bring them back from injury etc.

He's a curator of talent.

Dale's time will come.

I'm not sure about that description for Sir Alex, sure he got lucky with one particular year group back in the 90s but apart from that I can't really think of that many players that came through under him.

I should imagine he will be on the subs bench for a while yet and be introduced for short periods to build his match fitness up Before getting a starting berth.

I don't think his pre season was a problem , I' m sure he played in Crewe' s first 3 games.

I’ve got quite a few blades mates and they absolutely love Madine despite him not having a great goal scoring record there. I never understood it initially but can see why now.

Think he’ll be dying to start at brammall lane

After Reading many, including me, hoped to see Carey and Dale selected for the PNE game, probably at the expense of Madine and Keshi the two goal scorers on Saturday...so what do I know.
I think Dale will have a big future here though.

Dale's still coming back from injury. He'll get minutes as and when the game situation allows. Dougall having to go off on Saturday might have stopped him getting a little taste then. Reckon he'd have got another one or two Nobbers sent off.

Critch said last week that Dale is physically ready to start games. But he doesn't rush new players into the side often. Wintle had to be. Don't think anyone else has been. Keogh obviously wasn't ready but Critch didn't want to damage the confidence of younger players.

Carey will play from the start on Saturday in a similar line up at Reading. The Preston game needed experience rather than flare and being a derby game.

That was Karl with the Premier League money. He literally said it was for a rainy day, and I told him it was bucketing down.
I think some could see what the Oyston's were about a dozen or more years before they were finally ousted. Others just refused point blank to believe it, even when one excuse after another was being trotted out for not spending any money. Anyway it's water under the bridge...we're all one big happy family again...for the mo! 😂

don't know whether he is or isn't but I've always thought of Sheff U as being a big physical team. So whether the manager prefers to try and out football them or go with the physical team and the likes of Madine we'll find out on saturday.

Critch has been easing Dale into the action in an intense and physical league. He's also been sticking with players who have been performing well in their own right and ensuring they get the game time they deserve.

It's become increasingly clear that NC sees it as a squad game. We don't have an obvious 'best X1' at this stage (imo), but the players all know their job and seem to be able to fit in and out. GazMads comments the other day implied the same, when he said something like 'if i'm not playing i'm OK with it because the coach explains his decisions properly.'

I doubt Dale is ready to start but suspect he'll get some game time from the bench. Carey could be a different matter, we may rotate Madine and play Sonny as a no.10 behind Jerry. Trying to 2nd guess Critchley is almost impossible however.
