Do we underestimate our players?

I've read a lot on here that some don't think the players are up to it but watching yesterday (and admittedly most of these are loans!) - I think any side would have Dembele, Coulson, Byers, Ekpiteta, Pennington (who I really liked yesterday), Grimshaw, Rhodes, Gabriel and (here comes the elephant in the room!) CJ - on his day he is a match for any side in this league.

We have 5 or 6 (mostly loans) who are good then some pretty average players who have good and bad days. I don't think we underestimate them at all as like you say we have a few very good individual players but as a whole team we are a top 6 ish side. Nout wrong with that it's top 6 but to think we should be higher I think is over estimating our players.

All our loan players are brilliant, all our players under contract are shite 👌😂
To answer the question posed in this thread - yes you definitely under-estimate the players. Calling them shite is a sweeping generalisation that means nothing. For my part I know what they're capable of but theyve not shown that talent with enough consistency. Perhaps that's what you were trying to say?

Just a bit of banter 😉

It’s easy to say this after a comfortable win. No one was saying this after Cheltenham.
Half the teams in this league probably believe “on their day” they can match anyone. We are certainly one of them but have absolutely no consistency which is the key.

To me Dembele is the only player that stands out . We are very average and we were lucky against Bolton that we had a good ref for a change or we could have been 3-1 down by half time as they were the better team.

If we scored 2 by half-time that the ref had no impact in, intrigued to find out how we could have been 3-1 down?
The ref impacts the game . He has the main say in how a game goes .Bolton were the better team and just 1 thing that is done different effects the rest of the game . There is a film called the Butter Fly Effect , its worth watching.

There is only any point in judging them relative to the division we are in.
We have a few who any top 6 side would want, but we also have 1 or 2 that might be more at home a division lower.
Unfortunately when we have to call upon those that are not at the level we think the club should be at their lack of quality seems to be contagious!

Far from shite, the loans are very good and the contracted players are of a high standard for league one bar a few, as said over & over again critch could get more out of them if he wasn’t so stubborn with his system and for me CJ is a great player off the bench and Connolly is a decent squad player

Sadly, though, it appears there is one key figure who does: Neil Critchley.

I'm sorry, but I think this best explains why he seems so loathe to players in what be their best positions, a classic case in point being C. J. Hamilton. I know we all (and I've been as guilty of this as anyone) decry CJ for having certain negative aspects to his game, which we have all seen demonstrated more times than we care to remember, but, ultimately, this has simply been down to Critchley being guilty of playing him completely out of position. Not in a million years is he ever going to successfully progress into being a fully-functioning RWB/LWB. He doesn't possess the necessary skill-set required for such positioning. Because of his electrifying pace, CJ should basically be deployed as an out-and-out winger, or, at a push, as an attacking midfielder. I can see that, you can see that - so why can't a certain Neil 'myopic vision' Critchley see it?

Agree mainly with what you've said, but given that we have a talented squad we should be in a higher position, hence we've underperformed looking at the season as a whole. There's still time to make up ground but we'll need at least 7 wins out of the last 10 games.

Some of our players were players of the season at their previous clubs. These players don't turn to shit overnight. Oh wait, they did under Crithley's style of football.

Good players, shit system.

How can a team lose 4 1 and be the better team?

If I'd said that about us I'd be called deluded.

Not even Rhodes ? Seventeen goals in half a season ?

They were better then us in the first half and we only became more prominent after their man was sent off ,which he should not have been as the penalty was given so it should have been a yellow . The ref won us that game.

I think we're mostly switched on about our players. Unfortunately, some take insults too far.
