We are 6 pts off 3rd, 9 pts off 2nd. Compared to the last time under Critch, we have an extra 3 points at the same stage. In that season we were then 10 pts off 2nd, 8 pts off our eventual 3rd place finish. So far I still think we will have a similar overall season to last time with Critch, albeit with a slightly better start and slightly weaker top 6. Still automatic for me, but only just.
clearly you take no account of the many teams who have games in hand.

I think last night showed it's still all to play for ...

For me, win the next two games and we're on 39 points after 23 games, I believe we'll be better in the second half of the season and so potentially we could end up mid to late 80's points wise.

Pessimistic lot aren’t we - probably the most exciting attacking options we’ve had in years and yet the most votes go to we’ll miss out!!

I said at the beginning of the season it would be a minimum of the play-offs and i am still confidant of that, yeah teams have games in hand but they have to be won, all we can do is concentrate on our own games and win them, take no notice of what's around us we cant influence that but we can our own games.

There are certainly positive signs but I wouldn't put it past Critchley to revert to Callum Connolly at left wing back. For me to have a more positive outlook, these things need to happen:

- Keep Rhodes or replace with similar goalscoring ability
- Improve our away results and prove Portsmouth wasn't a one off.
- Consistency. Goes with the above point. Too many times we win and unable to follow it up.
- A smart January window. It won't be easy but anything that could help us get through the season should for example we get an injury to a key player such as Dembele.
- A personality transplant.

If some of those can happen and we get a bit of luck, my vote could easily change to the play-offs.

Your last point is the most productive

N
I hate to say it but no chance
Not consistent enough too many dropped point already and the gap between us and the play offs to big
I hope I’m wrong thou

We could go up, I easily think we have one of the 3 best squads in the division, but just because we could doesn’t mean we will.

At our best, there isn’t a single team in the division who we can’t beat, unfortunately, we see our best far too little.

Dropping points where we really really shouldn’t have has bitten us in the ass (Fleetwood, Charlton) coupled with lackluster performances against weaker teams will have us on the outside looking in for the rest of the season.

However, we’re still in position to be in position, all it takes is one run and that needs to happen sooner rather than later because this division is very top heavy this year. Pompey, Bolton, Derby, Barnsley, Posh are all going to be there, Stevenage and Oxford you’d think will fade but you never know? We’re already behind the 8 ball a bit, but that can be made up easily.

If we’re serious about promotion we’ll see this month!

I'm sure we all wish you all the very best with the personality transplant. 😉

You’ve just mentioned 6 teams that are better than us so no, we have no chance. Stevenage have no right being up there they’ll fade surely but I reckon we’ll just miss out 7th/8th place, I’d love to be wrong though.

We’ve beaten Stevenage, Pompey and Barnsley. Lost to Posh, Bolton, and Derby. Drawn Oxford.

We’re as good as the teams above us, the difference is how many points we pick up from below us.

A lot depends on if we keep hold of Jordan Rhodes and Dembele. Having a consistent goalscorer and a game changer is massive in this division. We also have injured players returning Joseph,Gabriel, Norburn and hopefully Lavery not too far off. Andy Lyons has also come to the party and hopefully any rift that was between him and Critchley has been healed because I think he is a quality player. If we end December in the top six then I do think we are well placed to make a challenge for the play-offs.

There was no rift. He was badly hit by the death of his father.

The burning issue for me is what happens in January, some players will leave etc. What we do to bring in the right quality could make the difference.

Not this year we're too hot and cold. But next year yes.
If we don't go up this season we'll be here a long time and Critchley has no excuses given the quality of the squad at his disposal. If we fail to gain promotion a lot of players (who some on here are daft enough to denigrate) will be going elsewhere because they are good players. The team has underperformed so far and that's on the manager. We ought to be firmly in the play offs come January and if we aren't Critchley should be sacked.

Play offs minimum still think we can make automatic
Have you been on a league 1 predictor? It's hard for us to catch teams above for quite a while, but that's taking into account their games in hand and if they win.

Clearly you forget that in our last promotion season, teams had games in hand on us because we kept playing while they were calling them off because the tea lady had covid.

By the end of the season they were playing a backlog of games with depleted squads and we finished third.
pretty certain there was nothing inaccurate about anything I said. Teams have games in hand that is a fact and that could alter how the table looks. Last time was 3 seasons ago so it's daft to compare and assume what happened then will happen now.

People were bemoaning the fact that teams had games in hand on us three years ago at this time so it's relevant. Fleetwood had 4 at one point.

so i can bookmark this post and if we don't go up then it'll be your fault. 😉 This is Blackpool we're talking about. Assume nothing and take nothing for granted.
