The posts you quoted were in response to accusations that City are only successful because of money and are buying trophies. Clearly, the figures show that's not the case. The litigation concerning how City obtained the money they've spent is another matter and City say they can show those charges are false. Whether or not that's the case, I doubt that it's made any difference to the number of trophies they've won.
I think it may have made a huge difference to the number of trophies they've won. You can't just look at the here and now and what they've got.
The charges go back to 2009, so they could have been falsifying their accounts for 14 years.
That's a long time to be gaining an advantage, making money and building up an empire.
Who's to say they could have attracted a manager like Guardiola or certain players if they hadn't cooked the books for all those years.
They weren't exactly a big name in world or even European football before then and still aren't really.
So I would disagree with you. It may have made a huge difference to the number of trophies they've won.
I suppose it will all come out in the wash when the verdict on the charges is known.

yep, will be strongly rooting for them. Inter shouldn't be taken lightly and City won't do that. A typical Italian team who will come out with all the dirty tricks and will try to disrupt the flow of the game at every opportunity. So don't see it being a spectacle of great football for as long as Inter are still in the game.
Come on Inter

Love how much everyone loves oil city...

Comparatively everyone ** hated United when they were doing well, and therefore they still hate them now!

Nuts.

For my tuppence worth I cant stand city and really hope they bottle it.

A bit like others my distain for Manchester United far outweighs any dislike of City and it'd be hilarious to shut that side of Manchester up who bang on about the Treble even though it was 24 years ago!

Yes hope they do it. Pep is a barm pot but he's a great football manager. Even with the oil money you have to get a team to gel and he's done it in spades.

Saturday's final is an opportunity for the champions of English football to showcase their strengths against the cynical, cheating, time-wasting catenaccio that is Serie A. A bit like goodies against baddies. A defeat for City would be a disaster for English football.

Exactly…20-30 years ago they were a yo-yo championship/premier league team …but clearly it’s nothing to do with money…🤣

What City have done is no different to what any big club has done for the last 30 years, the sums are just bigger due to inflation. If FFP had been a thing in the 90's United would never have had the success they did and Blackburn would never have won the Premier League.

It's the sad reality of modern football that if you want to win trophies/league titles, you have to spend a ** lot of money.

I hope they do it, I like Pep and I can't stand United or Liverpool. Would also be happy for the genuine City fans I know who stuck with the club through the Division 2 days at Maine Road. Proper football fans at a proper football club.

But FFP wasn't a thing in the 90's.
If this was the 90's I wouldn't have been done for speeding in a 30mph zone as it was a 40mph zone back then.
You're probably another one who thinks City have been charged with spending money. They haven't
Having said that I don't hold anything against the manager or players who have done a great job. They're a great team, even
if their style of play isn't quite my cup of tea. It's not their fault if the owners have broken the rules. Unless they are found to
be complicit in the rule breaking.
If they're cleared of all charges then fine. If they're found guilty then EFL should throw the book at them.,

No chance. They've morphed into United with an army of new plastic fans. It's bullshit and like I've said on a previous thread I don't consider premier league English teams as being English anymore. Call them Abu Dhabi FC and play games in China for all care. Zero soul.

City have bought success, WTF did they win before Abu Dhabi bought them, they were shit, perennial losers. It wasn't too long ago when they were in the 3rd tier of English football at least the club had an identity and soul back then rather than being "allstar FC"

I'm divided on this one - always want English teams to do well but am conflicted by the amount of money that has been pumped in to the club. That said, I do like watching them play, like Pep and quite like some of their players and so will be pleased if they do it on Saturday.
Yes, generally support all English teams in Europe, bar West Ham they are just pond life.

But City are relatively small spenders compared to the likes of Chelsea and in the past year even compared to Nottingham Forest so the 'bought success' claim just doesn't stand up. Money alone doesn't buy success. City's success comes with signing the best coach in world football. And city fans have earned their place at the top table after living in the Manchester shadow for decades.
