Don’t think we’re far away personally but the two things I would change......

..... would be to make Gary Madine captain (lead from the front etc) and appoint a director of football to help Critch who obviously seems to be struggling at the moment as manager 😢

problem as i see it, we can't score and the worrying thing is we don't look like we are going to score, all season we have hardly had any clear chances on goal.
and mitchell - got skinned all first half till the sending off

I totally agree....
We change 2 things and we are going up....
1....The Manager.....Get Pep in.......
2.....Ditch Yates........Get Messi in.....
Then we are going up !

If he isn't undermined I'm not sure he is going to improve fast enough. I realise they have put all their faith in NC, which is admirable, unless, of course, it doesn't work. We look better away from home for some reason, we look well below par at home. I thought he would get the whole season at least, and he still could, but unless things don't change over the next 2 or 3 months I can see him as a managerial casualty before Christmas. My wish is that things change for the better and he repays SS's faith and backing.

I think bringing in an experienced no 2 or Director of Football would undermine Critch at this stage

We’ve been speaking about this on the post match pod

To quote Matt ‘ we are all in ‘ with him

Really enjoy the podcast - but all this "we are all in" agreement?

Not for me. I reckon SS knows when to fold em. It needn't be expensive to do so. Just a new manager, a few exits in Jan and two or three older heads in. There is talent there. It just needs some experienced "leadership".

Need to change the line up in my opinion, play big ek ballard and the iceman with turton and mitchell or garbutt ,williams ,robson and ward or woodburn with madine and cj up top ,,a 5 3 2 formation, and see if that helps

I doubt Critchley will change anything, he’s not shown any inclination to do so yet.

I agree, it’s time to plug the gaps and stop the rot before it’s too late, a few draws and clean sheets will build a bit of confidence back as we seem bereft at the moment. Keep going all out and getting beat is not the answer. Build it back up from a clean sheet and grow the confidence.

Gary Madine as captain???
He’s useless, a big lump with terrible body language, sulky, slow and his career goal stats are a little better than 1 in 4. On big wages too.
We don’t need a director of football either. We’re a League One club and in hindsight we may have tried to be a bit too clever with this ‘project’ and it can’t and won’t carry on like this.

We are missing leadership on the pitch (from only watching on ifollow).

Somebody to really get stuck in to the opposition, the officials and our own players.

Not sure where is coming from to be honest.

Cheers Mac
To put those comments in context we were talking about whether SS would change things in the short term
Clearly he won’t leave it indefinitely if things do not improve
I think we agreed he’d be given until Xmas

If you look at the other thread regarding Gary Madine you will see you’re in the minority with your thoughts mate

Results undermine NC and he shows no sign of changing that. You can't expect SS to allow that to continue- that would be the act of a madman. Changes will come; they have to and as a start I'd say they'd come, not by replacing NC, but by giving him extra help.

As it stands I can see him getting the defence and the defensive side of midfield sorted, but for the life of me there's no chance of improvement up the pitch without altered thinking and who does NC discuss this with? Nobody because his asst. is greener than him and there's no other football person around.

Directors of Football aren't usually stood pitchside and that's what we need so I rule that out.
Was saying yesterday, an experienced no 2 pitchside who's not a nodding dog and is prepared to speak his mind about what's happening on the pitch.
The problem is and you can't get away from it, is that any help will be seen as undermining Critchley. It's how he re-acts if hewere to be given that assistance.

What I would say is- 'Look Neil this is what we've decided to do, I hope you like it. Thanks for popping by.'

I agree. We have to play to our strengths. The players we have best suit this formation. Cut out the goals which are resulting from our full backs not being very good defensively!

It has become apparent that, despite all the wonderful words heaped on our new signings, we can't deploy them straight away. They're simply not ready - except for Ballard. That doesn't mean we can't make changes, however. and I'd be throwing on Kemp on the left of the front three, Hamilton on the right and Madine at centre. Behind them I would want a linking centre-mid in Williams; then Anderson to support Hamilton and Robson to support Kemp. I'd put Gabriel at right back (Turton to the bench - no reflection on Turton who has been doing most things well), just to see how it works out. Ikpeteta has been one of the pleasing players who is visually improving every game. Alongside him Ballard is looking good.
This leaves the tricky left-back berth. If fit, it has to be Garbutt because it's defensive work I want from both full-backs. There's plenty of attacking wing play on both flanks, supported by my left & right midfielders. Finally, I don't see Madine being a lone striker. For me, Kemp and Hamilton should be capable of crossing well ("should be") to the other two forwards, and both should be able to move inside to attack the goal.

Need to scan the list of unemployed footballers to find a central striker who can score goals the club would have to ditch the idea that he would have to be under 25yrs of age.

I've said it before. The only way is to release the ball from the back quicker.
On the odd occasion when this happened last night we looked better up front.
Our defence seem to think that it has to go back to the Skipper every time they get it.

The leadership comes from the experienced players like Husband. Oh...

It does look that way

Mansford and his agent mates seem to be signing the players

I think it was poolfc2011 on the other site did a bit of research and all the signings upto a few weeks ago were through just 4 management companies
I saw that. It was no surprise.
