Downes and in

At last …

Edit to add the most interesting quote from Mr Sadler

"I look forward to working closely with him as we look to get this project back on track."
Great news.

We had the whole "will he now stay seeing as they've gone up" questions appearing. Even though it was known they were on the promotion hunt already when he was sounded out.

Now he's in player recruitment can begin, if not already underway and the clubs strategy and philosophy can be set and worked towards, at all levels.

On the face of it, it seems an excellent appointment.

Why are people saying it's a great appointment?

It may be it may not be nobody really knows

On the face of it it's a bit of as strange one his leaving a bigger club in a higher league

When you look at Wednesday as a club they have one of the oldest average ages in the league with several key players out of contract

So not much planning for the Wednesday project

Also weren't Wednesday recently under a transfer embargo for sending too much

Anyway good luck to him, I would like to know more about his role though and what he will bring to the table

His Dad was Chief Scout at Wednesday. Dont know if he still is though.

They have changed things round so Darren Moore has a bigger say on player recruitment.

Here’s the Phil “underwhelmed” post.

Has he spoken well yet? I mean he needs to.

Time will tell if it works out, but remember Badman was a 'great appointment' on the face of it.

Good luck to the lad, he's going to need it.

I think that's fair enough, we don't know anything about him but let\s hope he is the right person, we needed him in place and that's happened now so we can get on with the job in hand. I'm more underwhelmed by the appointments of Garrity and Brunskil to be honest. But we are all systems go now so need to start signing some players.

If we get from him what it says on the tin he will be a good appointment. Of course its nearly impossible to form any judgement about him yet. It's good though that he's looking at Blackpool as a Club from his own perspective as somewhere to further his career as opposed to staying at The Wendies.
That's the first tick in the box from me. 👍

Yorkshire Live says it's a 'big blow' for Sheffield Wednesday. Think that should be a 'massive blow'.
He has said he’s coming in to massively impact the football department. A bit worrying that, like football is just a part of the club

At the end of the day if we're successful he'll be a good appointment. Then it all depends how you define success. For some its automatic promotion this year. For others it's steady improvement in philosophy and structure over five plus years leading to a more sustainable success. If we start to see improvements in recruitment and playing style this year that will be a start.

Middle of June and manager assistants and D.o.F are all in place.

At least we’ve got a nice chance of being ready for the season? Cheer up everyone, this is the start of a good season and frankly no excuses now of all being a bit last minute scramble!

Go and get who we need and let’s get drilled and ready.

Surprised that there isn't an interview with him on Tangerine TV yet. Imagine that there will be one soon. Will be good to hear from him.

I’d rather we don’t hear from him. He needs to be the go between between Critchleys needs and the boards decision making and give the same opinion to both on players. Other than platitudes he won’t be able to share what and who and where he is looking other than general platitudes. No pamphlets or interviews needed.

How dare u be so positive 🤬

At last, great news, onwards and upwards
I can't help think such momentous news should be greeted with some kind of musical fanfare. How about, to the old Status Quo hit of the Seventies, and I'll start us off:

'Downes, Downes, deeper n' Downes,
Downes, Downes, deeper n' Downes...'
