Eastbourne Borough - Just giving link

I think it's just a nice gesture from Blackpool fans, supporting a non league team during a crisis. They would have had TV money plus attendance money in normal times so just making up the difference I guess.
Had they got beat last round they wouldn't have had a game, so the TV money is a huge bonus.

If there's a replay which obviously the TV won't take and the gate money was split, then that's a different matter. imo.

If this is being done properly, we should find out what our ticket allocation would have been, worked out if we'd have sold out (long trip etc.) and capped the total donation at the maximum revenue our attendance would have generated. If these clubs needs hand outs to survive you have to question whether they're big enough to be in the FA Cup.

They've got a £67K handout from TV. Beat us and another £36K.

I think it is £32.5k from the TV actually. We get the same amount.

Sorry but you are misinformed. Each team will get £37500 off BT. The winning team gets £16375, the losers get £5750 so assuming Eastbourne lose they will get £43250.even if they beat us it’s £53875.

That isn't what I read, but never mind, I'll take your figures and at worse off scenario they are 43K up. Money they could never have budgeted for, so a bonus.

You probably misread the figures the £67000 you quoted is for both teams, not each.👍

We have some right miserable bar stewards as fans. This should be one of the biggest days in their clubs history, we've missed out on a great away game and at the end of the day the FA Cup is the best competition in the world. I've donated. UTP.
psst, the game is going ahead. It's still one of the biggest games in their history. And a profitable one as well.

Good luck to them and I hope they use the windfall wisely.

I'm with Founts on this , i can probably think of about a thousand more worth while causes to donate too than a football club playing in the fa cup

When did we become such a bunch of doo gooders

Well, you have never wanted to buy a ST for your own club, so we know where you stand.

I think it's a nice gesture for a small club that finds its existence threatened. Without clubs like this, we have no pyramid to play in. That is worth something to a lot of people.

I've got a season ticket for this season and probably won't get to any games.. so your dig at me is errrr pointless

I’ve chipped in too. A club like Eastbourne are very much at threat due to Covid and a game like this would usually be a huge boost to their finances and probably pay a lot of bills for the season - unfortunately they’re not going to have that this time around and instead of a boost it may just about allow them to scrape by and exist for a short while longer. Then letting Big Bertha in was a touch of class too. Best of luck to EBFC , just not for 90 mins tomorrow afternoon.

I’m with Phil on this albeit I’m never going to have a pop at anyone who donates
I’ll be adding my ticket money to my food bank donation

I've been in two minds about this. Part of me thinks it looks like an embarrassing scrounge, part of me thinks wow, this has come entirely from you people and it's just an amazing gesture. It's true that the TV money and prize (or losers!) money has been a life saver and will cover the losses we have accrued since lockdown, and frankly will see us through the season. We might not get another Cup run for years. When we had to stop playing in March, we had I think five home games scrubbed out, and we had to curtail our youth coaching which normally makes a useful surplus, and we had to close our bar/clubhouse and lose the takings. Meanwhile we still had ground maintenance and fuel bills, insurances etc, kit to replace for the new season, even two grand a month ground rent, which we pay to the local council. The club minibus failed its MOT (this all sounds like a joke but it's true) but Big John our volunteer driver fixed it and coaxed it through the re-test. Welcome to non-league! Supporters and sponsors have put their hands in their pockets. Some of our players were on contract, so initially furloughed in March to end of season, but we had to (or decided to) carry on paying non-contracts. Then from close season onwards, the lads, although training and playing friendlies etc, were not paid again until 3rd October, when official fixtures resumed. So the players have been big enough to take a hit too. The National Lottery grant - very welcome of course - didn't come in till late October.

All that being said, I honestly would be more than happy to think that some of you had donated to the foodbank rather than EBFC. I would totally respect that. I just didn't want you to think we are deliberately profiteering.

What I'm going to propose to our football committee - and I may get slaughtered for this cos I'm really only thinking aloud - is that they ring-fence the Pool donations, and put the money to some specific use or special need within the club community - not yet sure what, but obviously needs and not luxuries - and we even report back to you on how we've spent it. Is that making any sense?

Good wishes to you all. Here's to a decent game and just hoping we don't do a Tonbridge implosion....

Don’t feel guilty
We’ve all said it’s a personal thing
My ticket money is going to the local food bank but grassroots football is a great cause in itself

The sanctity of the cup is that anybody who is in it, deserves to be in it, for as long as they are in it.

TAM is right, its donated in the interest of grass roots football. Some will donate to food banks etc, theatres, music venues, others sports....the list is endless because they are all battling to get through this. Grass roots football is the heartbeat of what we all love as fans.

Good luck and hope you make the end of this nightmare kev.👍🤘✌️

On a side note, the funding site has probably done best out of this.Fifteen percent on your donation I think it was.😡

As TAM said don’t feel guilty, not one bit. The original idea came from a pool fan and you just heard about it and took up the standard on behalf of your club.👏👏 I think I am speaking on behalf of all who contributed when I say spend the money however you think it will be of most benefit to your club. We gave the money in good faith and trust you to spend it wisely, as I am sure you will. So please Kevin don’t feel guilty in any way you didn’t ask for anything we gave freely.🍊🍊🍊🍊

I've been trying to sell poppies to neighbours, which is not an easy task, and have raised about £60 which will be sent to the Royal British Legion, I have donated food to our local food bank, which I do regularly, but feel that I need to add something to the Eastbourne Appeal. So £20 has been donated, it would have cost a lot more to travel there and have a day out than my donation to the poppy appeal, the food bank and the Eastbourne Appeal. All my choices as a pensioner.
