EASTBOURNE BOROUGH TESTIMONIAL

Morning Blackpool fans! Firstly, I hope that this post is okay by your admin, apologies if it is not, I am just looking for

I am a former player and current first team coach at Eastbourne Borough FC and I have recently been granted a testimonial for 13 years service to the club. 12 of these years were as a player with just under 500 appearances and this year, my 13th year was as part of the coaching team.

Following our first round FA Cup tie earlier this season, Blackpool FC have really kindly donated a squad signed Blackpool shirt for me to raffle, in order to raise funds as part of my testimonial. For this I am genuinely grateful.

With you guys doing so amazingly well and reaching the play-off final, it would be great if a true Blackpool fan were to win the shirt at this time. That is why I am here. I am trying to get the link for the shirt seen by as many Blackpool fans as possible in order to make this happen.

I wouldn’t normally have gone about things this way, but an testimonial at non league level is quite rare and it’s a one time chance to benefit from it. With Covid disrupting everything, I am having to think outside the box as most traditional methods of raising funds for a testimonial are off the table currently.
I have family links to Blackpool, my nan grew up there and was actually a neighbour and childhood friend of the great Sir Stanley Matthews!! As such if I manage to sell a good number of tickets, I’d be happy to donate some of the funds back to your club to be used however the club sees fit. In the grand scheme of things it wouldn’t be much but it’s something.

Anyway, the link is below. If you can help I’d be really grateful and maybe one day our clubs paths will cross again.

Thank you and all the best for the final, all at Eastbourne Borough will be cheering you on.

Consider it done. Can I buy tickets for the testmonial game as well even if I can't be there? I've got zero chance of being at Wembley on Sunday so might as well feel like I've paid my way into something that day!

You can through the club website. I really appreciate that.
Unfortunately I have been asked to remove this post as it is not permitted so it will be gone just as soon as I figure out how to delete it.
The links for the testimonial game and the shirt raffle are available through Eastbourne Borough's social media pages.

Good luck guys.

All the best on Sunday. Who's told you it's not permitted? Nothing wrong with it.
My club called and said they had been contacted by someone at Blackpool asking for it to come down. It's fine, I don't want to cause grief or upset the apple cart so I will remove, just waiting to hear how.

Anything you guys can do to share the link about among fellow Blackpool fans would be great though. We are trying to get the link out to you guys through social media too, but restrictions around gambling are making it difficult.

Thanks for taking an interest, it's appreciated.

Would love to have bought a few tickets but dont do FB🦕🦖
The raffle tickets are not on Facebook, you can access those through the link in the original post. The tickets for the testimonial game can be accessed on Eastbourne Borough's website. Thank you.

Can you put up a link to the raffle?

Doh forget that.

Can you put up a link to the raffle?
You should be able to see it at the bottom of the original post. Here it is again.

Thanks guys, appreciate the support. Almost makes up for having to watch our boys chase shadows for 90 minutes against you!
See if you can have a word with Lincoln about taking their place on Sunday so we can do it all again!

I'll nab a couple, good luck on the day. If we did'nt, have a prior engagement, a few of us would have popped down from London.

Good luck Ben with the whole thing - proper football and tribute.

I am actually in Eastbourne on Friday and Saturday and unfortunately/fortunately leave to watch Blackpool in London on Sunday (some where!) I would have otherwise popped along to your match

I went to E/bourne Boro with F/wood Town (11 ?) years back - I think Jaimie Vardy played -did you play in that one? - I think it was 5 or 6-1
Great atmosphere and Cods went up and unfortunately you went down. Your keeper contributed an absolute howler - one of the funnist I've ever seen.

You (E/bourne) also won the London Vets Cup which the team i played for in London. the Civil Service, won a couple of years later circa 2013

Best wishes from a seasider and appreciate yours

Hi there,

I did play in that one!! it was 6-0 I believe, we were well and truly spanked! Our keeper had a torrid season that year and it ultimately cost us. I think there was at least 1 own goal in there too so we didn't help ourselves. I don't think Vardy played that day...imagine the score if he had! We got one over Fleetwood in the away game though, with a 1-0 win and our goal coming from within our own half. Still on youtube somewhere I believe.

Anyway, thanks for the memory and for your support.

Ben

You guys have kicked on again since our game, so I think we’ll settle for the 3-0 and leave it there 😂 Wishing you all the best on Sunday, my game is a 1pm kick off so we’ll be cheering you on in the bar afterwards!

Good luck. Got a few tickets. Hopefully once things settle down we can arrange a game down at Eastbourne. I'd definitely go.

Brilliant, thank you. We would love to host you guys one day in the future, but with fans present this time around!! You’d be well looked after that is for sure, there seems to have been a genuine bond built between our two clubs which is great to see. 👏

How do you buy without Facebook ?

Ta

Afternoon guys, I have kindly been contacted by Lee Charles about helping to promote the shirt raffle. If anyone else has any contacts or ideas about how I can continue to get exposure I'd be really grateful. As previously mentioned, I'd be very happy to donate some of the proceeds back to Blackpool FC and the money raised will be split between helping to cover the costs of running the game on Sunday and hopefully a bit of profit for me...it is a testimonial after all!

Continued thanks, all.

I have tried to buy tickets , but it keeps telling me it does not recognise my e-mail address!!!

I have even changed my password with the same result!!!

Congratulations on your career with Eastbourne Ben; people like you are the unsung hero's of the pyramid system we love.

And that's another 2 tickets purchased.
