Back in the day she was demonised for suggesting pensioners put on a hat and cardigan to save on heating.

Looking at the Government's advice on the cost of fuel crisis, it's now official policy.

Different times.

I think it’s going to apply to all of us this winter, not just pensioners 😟
Westminister and Whitehall will be packed to rafters with leeches using the heating to keep warm so they can keep costs down on their London pads.
How many actually live in their constituency?

I think the idea is that We switch off and thus avoid rationing becoming necessary, thus ensuring that Sunak won’t need to do without his heated swimming pool

A lot of people are going to suffer this winter. These really are scary times and it is the least well off who will suffer most. I feel ashamed of our politicians in particular the Conservative party. Labour though should have been screaming from the rooftops about this pending catastrophe instead of endlessly going on about partygate .

Back then it were all student flats with pound meters tha knows....kids today don't know their born etc etc...

Just in case you thought they weren't being greedy enough, we have heard on the grapevine that next spring SSE are going to turn off our lower cost off peak electricity, used for hot water and storage. Have checked out their website, and it confirms that they are, but are going to contact us all individually. When we first came up here, it was half normal ppkw, it is now 3/4 normal ppkw, and looks like they want to remove entirely.

There is no gas in the area, so are stuck with it. Plan to retire down south within 3 years, so putting air source doesn't make sense, so we are stuck.

Electric blankets were a penny an hour to run I believe, obviously that maybe about 3p and hour now. Could be a wise investment for the winter months 🥹
Except that extra cash will also be needed to pay to see our GPs - those that are still working in the NHS.

Apparently you can get a throw, or something similar, that works like an electric blanket to go on your sofa.
No need to heat the entire house.
Just get everyone seated in a row on that.
Might still need hats though?

After 10 years of austerity its appalling that the country is sleep walking into this disaster but its a damn sight better than being run by the frogs via the EU, woke lefties and the champagne socialist fat cat union barons. I'll gladly light a single candle and huddle in my sleeping bag in the living room to show that lot of traitors. Long live the tory Party and their Russian backers.

Very generous Russian backers. I'm sure the trickledown effect will reach us any time now.

Far as I can remember and that's going back to the early sixties it's always been a case of putting extra clothing on in winter to save turning the heating up. That's nothing new really although these energy companies need to be called to account for their massive hike in prices and massive profits they are making. The British public are being ripped off.

If its a cold winter, you can imagine plenty going into work rather than working from home.
Yeah I bet the local libraries will be busy or going into the spoons drinking coffee all day for £1.25,even seen people take their own mugs and sandwiches in😂

Ah he said let the bodies of the dead pile high in a good way. Got it
Correct, although I think he bottled it on that occasion (again) costing even more lives. Shame. Succumbed to the immense pressure of a shit-tonne of virtue signalling arseholes and know-better types who would later turn on him anyway for doing exactly what they wanted 🙃

They won’t be doing that in the palace of westminster, for the simple reason the taxpayer pays their energy bills. They are allowed to claim on expenses.

You must have been rich 20s, in the early 60s we didn’t have heating to turn up,just a coal fire.
